I'm a now-and-then woodworker who likes to make useful things for around the house when they're needed or when I have a little spare time to work on them. I like working with MDF because of its uniformity, but wish it had greater strength and water resistance.

I have some nice Incra positioning equipment for my tablesaw, router, and drill press, and some good Incra measuring tools. If I had more time I'd learn how to do some of the over-the-top fancy joinery that Inca shows in its ads.

I'm toying with the idea of getting a 3D "printer" to make complicated parts that are too hard (or impossible) to make with woodworking equipment. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3D_printing)

Welcome. You have found the right place for woodworking. A great group of people willing to help. Looking forward to see your projects and comments. Work safe in the shop and don’t forget to use pushsticks.

Thanks for the nice welcome, folks! Looks like this group’s energy could be just the inspiration I need to spend more time in the woodshop.

Welcome, Rusty but I’d hold off on the 3D printer for now. Where there’s a will there’s a way, even in woodworking.
