Transporting donated lumber

I have donated lumber to Indio High School wood shop. The wood shop program is suffering from the current budget problems to all of California.

I have about about 2,000 bd ft of various ‘Urban Forest’ exotic & domestic lumber to get delivered. This load will weigh 5,000 to 6,000 lbs. Most wood is less than 8’ in length. I will bundle into sizes that can be comfortably loaded on the shipper’s truck or trailer.

I need to find some way to get some or all of this wood the 400 miles from Modesto CA to Indio [Palm Springs area] Calif.

I can load, using my forklift. The school will provide bodies to effect the unloading.

This wood does not need to get delivered with any deadline, however sooner would be better.

And, yes, I have wood that I can gift to that person or company that helps me get this material delivered.

Is there any one that can help?

I can’t help from NY but just wanted to say it’s awesome that you are helping the school.

I work in education and I know those students will love what you are doing for them. My prayers to you and your endeavor.

You are a great man Ira. Sorry that my truck is on the other side of the world.

You are to be congratulated my friend. Your generosity will be greatly appreciated by those students.

As the old saying goes, what goes around comes around. May you enjoy luck as good as the students have had from you.

I have contacted several. One small company has offered a compact pickup/driver once a month to the area. The load limit is not over 5’ long material and 700# per load. Much of what I have left to transport is 8’ material. Total remaining is in excess of 5,000#.
I shall continue looking and calling around
