I have been working wood on and off now four about 20 years. I love it! I have really grown to appreciate the finer aspects of the art and craftsmanship involved. I just love seeing a piece that strikes the perfect balance between the two.
I work out of a two car garage in my house. I used to think that this was not enough space but after seeing some of the excellent projects that others have turned out in smaller spaces I now feel blessed too have the tools and space I have
I would say my biggest challenges at this point are lumber storage and shop organization. I would like to spend more time in maximizing my space but that takes away from my "sawdust" time. If I could just get rid of my day job... but then would have no money for lumber - darn.
I have not had any formal skills or design training outside of what I took in High School and at Palomar JC some years ago. I would love to take a week in the next couple of years and attend one of the upper level wood schools on the west coast or back east.

I have finished the shell of the hope chest for my daughter. I will now start on the inside fit and finish. I plan to use aromatic cedar for the bottom to give it a cedar chest feel/smell. My mortise joints on the frame and panels came out go...
