Location: Bobcaygeon, Ontario, Canada

I am a math nut and a puzzle nut. I enjoy working with my hands.

I volunteered as an old time carpenter at a small settlers village we have where I live. I created an old time carpentry shop and an artifact repair shop.

They thought that I was a carpenter when I volunteered, I had to tell them that I was not a carpenter but just enjoyed working with my hands.

I made a wheel barrow without using any nails or screws. I created a base for an 1800's work bench using mortise and tenon joinery. I have done a lot of reading about old tools and methods and I am continually being amazed by what can be accomplished by listening to the wood you are working with.

I demonstrate how barrel staves are made and I show little people (as I call them) how to make bird houses. I talk about the history of tools and how everything was made out of wood.

I came across MattD's Sunshine Yacht Tender Blog and I am curious about his whole process from planing to fruition.

But, alas I can not ask (post) any questions until I have 5 entries.

So, I had better hop to it. Regards, Ron L
