Thought I’d get started on this workshop posting. Still to ashamed to post pics, as the shop seems to be in a constant state of disarray. If there’s not a “real” project going on, there’s some shop improvement project in the works. I’m sharing a basement with all the normal household stuff, so that’s always the major challenge.

Major Equipment
Table Saw – Jet Proshop JPS-10 with cast iron wings (purchased new for $875). Added a mobile base and the Incra 1000HD miter gauge which is awesome.
Jointer – Ridgid JP06000 (found on craigslist for $175). Need to add a mobile base.
Planer – Dewalt DW733 (found on craigslist for $200). Need to build a mobile stand/cabinet.
Drill Press – Shopfox W1668 (found on craigslist for $25). On metal stand, but need to make a mobile stand/cabinet.
Mortiser – Jet JBM-5 (found this and the Jet tenoning jig on craigslist for $225). I bought the Shopfox cross-slide vise for this, but still haven’t integrated it.
Scroll Saw – Ridgid SS1650 (found on craigslist for $90).
Belt / Disc Sander – Older version of the Jet JSG-6DC 6×48 belt and 12” disc (found on craigslist for $200).
Router – Bosch 1617EVSPK (purchased new for $179). Currently have this mounted to a Rockler table top that I just clamp to a bench. I’ve got an Incra ultra jig and fence (craigslist $60) that I plan to incorporate into a mobile cabinet / stand.

Major Shop Improvements Completed
Storage – Had to get a whole lot of household and sailing gear more organized and efficiently stored so there was actually some space to work with. The major portion of this is complete, but is continually improved.
Work Benches – U-shaped work bench in 8×12 room. This is where 50-75% of the work gets done.
Lighting – Added 14 fluorescent fixtures. Still have a few more to add, but this has made a tremendous difference.
Lumber Racks – Added 3 lumber storage areas, but will soon be looking for more space.

Shop Improvements Still to be Completed
Finish Room – Have a 10×10 space destined to be a finish room. Need to add 1 wall and a door, good lighting and some benches.
Dust Collection – Currently have no dust collector and marginal air filtration. Planning on adding the Jet DC1100C and the Jet AFS-1000B.
Tool Stands – Those mentioned above.

Rodney, I am looking forward to taking a tour of your shop when you get an opportunity to post some pictures. Tours of other shops are always an interesting post to see.

Thank you

-- I'm absolutely positive that I couldn't be more uncertain!
