« Part 1: Gold discovered at The Castle Part 2 of leafing work series no next part

The month of April saw me involved with getting The Castle repainted, all the wooden bits of course.
I had a painter do all the high house area and I did the stairs and ancillarys.

I cannot show you the stairs as they are not wood.

The letter box was looking a bit jaded as well so I was going to buy a new Number two to modernise it.

But when I saw the cost of them I wondered if they had been made from gold, this got me thinking, and I decided to gold leaf the existing No 2 as a work around.

The backing piece for the No 2 is wood and I thought I could improve on itas well.

Prior to make over.

The letter box itself is not wood so dont look at it.

I replaced the backing piece with a piece of Jarrah so I am trying to sneak the blog in as being wood.
So only look at the backing material and not the gold No 2 or gold catch or even the Gold leaf pole top!

After the make over.

I was so impressed with the result of the wood I decided to do a make over on “The Castle” sign as well.

Again these letters are metal and plastic so dont look at them, focus on the wooden backing board.

How I did it.

Before the painter and gold leafer arrived.

then,

The final result.

As you would know, that sign is very iconic in Aussie. Someone might well try to pinch it … ” Tell’em they’re dreaming! “

Great work on the replacement wood that holds the number two. (I did as you instructed and didn’t look at anything else! )
