No 2 Son has two girls Caitlin and Emily, he wanted me to make them some money boxes.

My first attempt was rejected as not girlish enough.

Here is the first attempt

I thought they were great, took me only a couple of hours. Oh well the cutomer is always right

So I shelved them and set to work using timber.

The timber is Oregon and its very good to work with

I made a profile pattern and cut out three sections per piggy.

I then made a jig the hold the sections for routing out the inside

The oval shaped center section is a 1:1 template used to attach to the timber to produce replica routed sections.

I them dished out the bulk of the material leaving enough depth for the bearing and then removed the template and continued down. The bottom was left intact then I used a hole saw to remove the remainder

then it was onto the oscillating sander to finish the edge

Here are the component parts finished

I used a small dowel pin to align the two sides to the center section then glued them up in two sessions

Then it was onto rough shaping

Lotta fun

Nice, don’t forget to drill a hole in the bottom Robert! Of course they won’t be able to see their money grow with this one.
