« Part 6: Titanic Serving Trays The Spooky inlay Part 7 of Trays series Part 8: Titanic Serving Tray Spooky Inlay Progress »

Well I did say standby for some wow factor from LLWW

Here is tray No 1 assembled.

I curved the ends to make the tray more “original”

The frame has four screws holding on the ends which are concealed by the side end pieces.

The base is simply glued to the frame with Titebond III
(apologises for the blurry pic I had it inside the garage without a flash)

Materials:

The ends/handles are Cherry the sides are Spalted Cherry
The base is marine ply
The logo graphic manipulation and engraving is courtesy of LLWW AKA degoose.
The technical aspects of the logo, for those who are interested are best addressed by Larry himself.

This is what the logo looked like starting out.

I have the “spooky Inlay to assemble and if I have time to get it assembled I will post it before returning to Sydney for some grand kids birthdays and Electrical maintenance work whilst the School holidays are on.

It will look the same style wise but there will be no engraving, as per the advice from Larry that it would distract from the bookmarked inlay effect and the engraved image may be lost in the complex detail of the timber.
It will however be slightly smaller to accommodate the Inlay work

Enjoy

Correcto Larry

The original is a . BMP which the site will not accept, I didn’t think anybody would pick up on the difference.
Oh what a tangled web we weave when at first we try to deceive, or something like that,...so out with the graphics package and change the file to a
.jpg and repost the correct image !!

After seeing them side by side makes one wonder!

(Signal I see no signal said Napoleon with the spy glass to his blind eye!

Post credits for the magnificent graphic work is still recognised !!

Dumb Rob !

Great looking serving tray! I’m really looking forward to seeing how the the “spooky” tray turns out!

(By the way, the quote above was by British Navy Admiral Horatio Nelson, just before he smashed the Danish fleet, and then got the Danish prince to sign the neutrality treaty. Nelson later wrote that he accomplished more in 5 minutes (getting the treaty signed) than the diplomats had in 5 months. Nelson was a firm believer in gunboat diplomacy!)
