After seeing Rembos light inside the machine loren’s mods and other contributions regarding customising our wooworking tools I thought I had better contribute as well.
So here we go,
I have a 3/4” spindle shaper CT-22CS from Carba Tec, but from what I have seen its the same machine repainted and badged to suit the supplier/re sellers requirements and all come from the PRC or nearby.
All are value for money and as they have a router collet an added important accessory to have makes them very versatile machine.
The mods I did were to customise it to suit me, and are basically three.
Mod No 1.
I added castors a base and handle along with rare earth magnets to hold the most used tools.
Mod No 2.
I added a pressurisation fan inside. Now the logic for doing this was to provide enought positive air flow so that dust and chips would not enter the area, and go out via the extraction hose, and not blow into the operators face.
Good try fail you might say, it did not work.
Mod No 3.
As I had a floor in the shaper and it was great at collection of dust, I thought I could better utilise the space as storage so I made boxes and platforms to hold my accessories and store them inside, there was heaps of room going to waste (just collecting dust you might say!)
Here are the Shaper cutters. The white folder underneath holds setup information
Here is the moulder head and knife box
Whats inside.
This is the bottom box
With less used parts and accessories. The small silver box contains my Rail and Stile router bits for panel doors
