Here’s another “family update”. This is my annual Christmas letter, I started these when my kids were little. I used to get so many letters from people talking about their children’s successes that I started writing letters relaying mostly lies regarding my children (ie: juvenile hall adventures, etc). Most everyone thought it was pretty funny, although I had to tell my mom that it was a joke….anyway….my kids were pretty funny so I had a lot of material. Who else has a daughter that comes home on the bus her first day of kindergarden and tells you the bus driver stopped to go grocery shopping on the way, that’s why it took so long to get home-that my friends, is the kind of material I had….so….here is this years letter, to all of my new friends at Lumberjocks.
My Dearest Family and Friends,
Here it is December 19th and I am just getting to my Christmas cards. I think everyone is in the same boat because I have only received about 5 cards. Or…it’s possible I only have 5 friends left .
I know the 5 of you have been anxiously awaiting my card….and the rest of you….I’m sure you’re pretty excited to get this too, but you better show a little love my way or it could be your last.
It’s been a pretty exciting year. Lots of milestones in the family.
Jessy graduated from UCSC in June. The ceremony was lovely, except for one protester who kept jumping up and yelling about Galileo, I think he had the wrong ceremony, or wrong century, but we are talking about Santa Cruz here. Other than that and the thick fog and frigid weather, it was beautiful. She is taking a year off to work before starting grad school and was working at a mental health facility with some seriously CRAZY people (no offense to 50% of my friends). Then she got a job at a group home with girls from 11-17, some of which are probably on their way to that CRAZY place. But the stories are entertaining, if not somewhat frightening.
Jen is giving birth again, I’m pretty sure she knows how this happens, but I think I might have a talk with her anyway, just to be sure. I’m sure all of you have guessed it by now, she announced it at Jessy’s graduation. I’m pretty sure she is waiting to hear what grad school Jessy gets into before she gives birth. Since it is a scheduled C-section, she shouldn’t have a problem giving birth on the exact same day.
Jordan is 2 ½ now and calls me almost everyday. Sometimes without Jen knowing. I love it when he calls me at 6:00am on a Saturday, as soon as I say hello, he babbles something completely foreign (I’m almost positive he is speaking a foreign language) and then hangs up. I could be having the best sleep in my life at that moment and am not real happy to hear my phone ringing so early, until I hear that excited little voice, then, how could I get upset about THAT! I think Jen lets him sleep with her cell phone cuz she knows he’ll call me and let her sleep.
Jesse and Joey-the twins are now 15 years old. What?!? How can that be? Those two have more tricks up their sleeves than David Blaine. Every time I visit they convince me that they are allowed to do something that I think isn’t very smart, but hey, I’m just their grandma, I don’t make the rules. So if they tell me they are allowed to race cars with their skateboards I let them. And I really don’t think Jen should have gotten THAT mad about that, she NEVER told me they COULDN’T do that. They only got a couple small scratches anyway and that one guy ended up not being THAT mad,….so… whatever…. JEN!
I’m still working at Lagunitas. We moved to a bigger office in October so now I actually have an office…not bad after 13 years. I’m pretty sure they will start paying me this year too. I love the place, but working for free is starting to get on my nerves.
Hope all of you have a wonderful Holiday Season and until next year…..
