« Part 1: 4 almost ready for finish, now to mortise the two holes on the fifth one. Part 2 of Marking Gauges series Part 3: Beams »

I am building 4 marking gauges and a small panel gauge. Two of the marking gauges and the panel gauge are for me. One gauge is to be a gift and the last gauge is to be sold and the proceeds donated to our woodworking club’s toy building program. I am going to build the French style from PWW. Bob Rozaieski’s podcast and incorporate improvements from the smokum youtube video. Thanks for providing so much good info. So far I have selected some walnut that I was given. It had a prior life as some sort of fixture which generated some holes that I am working around. If you look closely you will see that I have plugged several holes so that I can drill out the hole for the beam. Not all the blocks are cut to finished size. Now to finish cutting to finished dimensions and do the layout. The layout is done and now to do the mortising.
