This is my first project and thought I’d kick it out here. I know…......, another cutting board. But I’ve seen so many of your beautiful cutting boards here, I had to give one a shot.

Let me know your thoughts and be critical. Give me any suggestions or criticisim. It will be appreciated.

I made it out of rough cut black walnut and oak. I was going to use all my own tools, but don’t have a planer or joiner. So, I ran up to my neighbors and borrowed his. He was once a cabinet maker and has all very nice tools. So, instead of borrowing just his planer and jointer, I ended up using his saws as well. Now I’m jealous!

I also finished it with mineral oil and parrafin wax (1:8 ratio). I’m not sure what I think of this finish. The board still is tacky several days later. Not bad, but just enough to make me want to try something else next time. But, this finish might be better suited for an end grain board. If I do another edge grain board, I might try a salad bowl type of finish.

Thanks in advance for your comments and have a great week.
