Location: Hollonville, Georgia

Born and raised in Fairview, PA until the age of 12 when my parents moved all of us to Florida. Joined the USAF in '59 for a 4 year stint. Worked in construction for many years; worked in the land surveying business for a couple of years and this migrated into the area of photogrammetry where I drew topographic maps for the last 40 years. I went out on my own about 10 years ago and started a one-man business in photogrammetry that I've run from my house. Made a fairly decent living doing that until late 2007 when the housing market went belly-up thanks to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and corrupt politicians and presidents.
I don't see the construction industry getting back on its feet for another 4-5 years, if then, so I decided to get into wood working to fill in the gaps between the occasional mapping jobs that I do still get. I have a small trailer (8' x 28') with a room (12' x 28') built on the side of it behind the house and it seemed to be a good place for a small, compact work shop.
I don't have any real experience with wood working other than working as a carpenter building houses years ago although I have always had a desire to do this and have my own shop. I'm a quick learner, I take all advice that has merit with a good spirit and I look forward to learning everything that I can from all of you at lumberjocks.

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

God Bless

Hi there,
Welcome to LumberJocks… I joined the site myself almost a year ago and will give you fair warning, this site is VERY ADDICTIVE, VERY EDUCATIONAL, and VERY FUN…. so sit back, enjoy the ride and learn from the other LJ’s as they are a group of extremely talented people that are also very friendly…

Enjoy your time here on LJ and pass the word to any of your woodworking buddies about us…

Hi there, I see your shop is in an old mobile home. I build mine on a mobile home frame, lost my job and was lucky enough to find another job were I could take the shop to. Still setting it up.

Your boxes are looking great. How are you doing selling them? What kind of prices are you asking and where do you sell them at?

Thanks, Steve
