I have been working with wood for 50 years - my dad was a home craftman and I worked with him every chance I had as a kid. My best Christmas presents were my first tool set (8 years old) and a small table top jig saw at 9. My dad was the plywood cabinet type woodworker and eventually moved into building higher style furniture, but his first choice was plywood and wood carving. My goal was to build furniture, toys, cabinets, etc. that were as professional as anything on the market.

I am a fair woodworker, better than average but certainly no Krenov or Maloof. I have a fairly complete shop and now that I've retired from my day job, am spending much more time working on good projects. I do commission work for friends, but in no way is my shop a business.

My latest effort is to build some dining room chairs to match ones we have a partial set of. I've never built chairs, and my lathe skills are far from excellent, so this has been a challenge. The chairs have what I call "club feet", toed out. Learning how to turn these has been expensive in time, and wood, but I've figured out how to do them and this weekend I will be putting the chairs together. Hopefully it will go well - if so I will post a pic on the site.
