Is anyone else out there sick of clicking NO to the security warning that pops up continually for pop up ads on this site since the new regime took over?? I click NO do not allow- to the security warning that pops up- then when I go to a new page- I have to click NO NO – go to a new page NO NO NO. I have a blocker with my Internet Security package but I have to click NO NO NO.. Drives me insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is incredible how much exposure there is now to pop up ads on this site!!! And I am wondering if you guys get side and bottom ads for household cleaning products or is that just earmarked for the ladies? AUGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH I imagine this blog will get dumped quickly but I thought I would express myself anyway.

I do not have that problem! I do not know which browser you are using, I use Google Chrome as I have found it to be more user friendly as well as faster than IE. I set my browser to block pop ups except for a few select sites and rarely (a few times a month) get pop ups!

The pop ups don’t get through, but I have to manually reject them over and over and over….......

Rivergirl: According to the above mentioned link, and according to Nathan and Martin, the pop-ups aren’t coming from LJ. Look at GMman’s response on the above mentioned link—he had a virus. It’s been my experience that if you’re getting these pop-ups, there is a virus, and you’ll get a worse one if you do click yes…...I did it once and it took the IT guy at work a couple of days to clean my company laptop.

I sure hope this helps, because I know how frustrating it is.

I get no pop up ads on LJ either. You may have a virus.

I was getting some persistent pop ups right after going to some of the photo sites people link to and now stay away from anything to do with them. I know the people who put the photos there weren’t at fault.

Steve.

No pop ups here, either. I run several cleaners at the end of each day.

Run your favorite spyware cleaner. Visits to a few linked sites have caused my security SW to flash a warning.

Don’t get them here, but then it is such a LONG way to travel…guess they just don’t have the stamina…

Rivergirl, Although there is a slight learning curve. I think you will be so happy if you get rid of Internet Explorer and go to Firefox (or Google Chrome). Firefox 4.0 was just released and it seems to work well. If you do go to Firefox, get the addon called “NoScripts”. It will prevent a lot of heartaches later on by blocking spyware and maleware.

I was having the same problem, but not quiet as bad as you’re saying. I was having pop-ups, but I was informed that I was not having pop-ups…......anyway, I finally got tired of the pop-ups I was imagining and installed “Ad-Block”. No more pop-ups (real or otherwise) and very few ads at all. Right now, there are NO ads on the page I’m typing this reply on. I like it that way.

I know how frustrating it can be.

No Pop-ups,....Google Chrome here.
But, Like Verna mentions,——- you could have a virus lurking.
