In praise of the humble tool.
Mankind’s ability to create tools is the distinguishing factor that sets man apart from the other animals. Tools are the first idiom of human inventiveness; they have a special place in human development. Without tools human evolution and development would not have taken place; tools have been the principal means for the construction of all antiquities. The great buildings, the paintings, the furniture, indeed everything that has ever existed are there because of the skills demonstrated by craftsman/woman with the ability to apply and use tools of one type or another from a vast selection of many tools each with its own purpose. None of these expressions of human ingenuity would have been possible without tools; they are an extension of human intelligence and human endeavour to be creative and to create. Humans have now progressed so far they have created tools to design tools and tools to make tools. This leads me to ask; which is the ultimate tool, the Armageddon of tool invention, have we seen it yet or is it still to come?

A thing of beauty

Simple but effective

Its plane to see why people love tools

A truer word has never been spoken Bill.

-- Andy -- Old Chinese proverb say: If you think something can't be done, don't interrupt man who is doing it.
