I just received my order of 30 board feet of curly maple. It is gorgeous. I ordered it over the internet from a company that I had never dealt with before, MapleLeaf Hardwoods in Hughesville, PA. They sent me a picture but you never really know what you are getting until you see it for real. I am so relieved. This wood is better than I ever imagined. All of the boards come from the same tree so the pattern is consistent in all of the boards.

I’m going to buy some cherry locally and start to work on the bed I have been thinking about for a long time. Here’s a picture.

I should have enough curly maple to do a complete bedroom suite.

The place I bought the maple is found at You can see some of their inventory online but you cannot order online. You have to e-mail or call. I note my original post says I ordered over the internet. Actually I inquired via e-mail, telling them what I wanted. They sent me an e-mail with a picture and a price and I okayed the purchase via e-mail and paid them with paypal.

They are not cheap but, for the quality they offer, their prices are reasonable.

Paul has some amazing material available. If you haven’t already, ask to be put on his newsletter list. It’s a feast for the eyes every time I click on the links to see the wood. You should post some pics of the material you got.
