In August, my wife, younger son and I returned to Minnesota, after a 35 year hiatus in WI. We're loving Stillwater. My wife is retired and I'm "retooled," working part-time in the consultant field. We bought a new spec home in Settler's Glen.
I have the time now to get serious about building furniture and cabinets- which is my current interest, but need help. Growing up on the range, I've been around house construction all my life, and if you put my alongside another experienced framer, I can git'r done. I've generaled my last two houses.
Been a lumber-sniffer all my life. It works best for me to work alongside a journeyman in a particular skill; that's what I'm looking for now. For example, in my garage I need to build wall cabinets. I've built cabinet carcasses before, but would love to build some with someone who really knows what he/she is doing. Last week, I purchased some great maple door fronts from the overstock place by the airport. Now, I'm looking for a "building buddy" to walk me through the best way to build carcasses.
