After getting a Jointer, I realized very quickly that I should have gotten a planer FIRST. I was able to flatten a board, and joint an edge, but that is something that I can do fairly easily with hand planes. thicknessing that board on the other hand is sometimes a bit more challenging to do by hand – especially when you have multiple boards to mill. Price I have limited funds, and so visit craigslist often for tools. I was actually not expecting to find the Dewalt 735 in my budge...

I have had the opportunity to use about 4 different planers. I owned a Ryobi 12.5” for about a year and returned it because rollers wouldn’t work, They bought a Ridgid and it lasted about 3 months, same problem (Ryobi, Ridgid, and Milwaukee are same corp) Finally I bucked up and bought Dewalt after seeing this at the wood show. Recently purchased the DeWalt model 735 13 inch two speed planer and stand. Right out of the box the planer had very few parts to assemble. The instructions were very easy to understand. I had to make a few minor adjustments in the height adjustment scale, but the preset stops were right on the money. Gave the planer a real test with some cedar boards that were up to 10 inches in width and the machine did great. I planed them down close to 3/4 inch thick and then switched to the slower ...

I have really worked this tool for many hours lately and am totally impressed with its performance. It is pricy but has received a number of best product recognitions in magazine articles in their plainer reviews. It’s easy to adjust and feed wood through. You must use a vacuum system with it! It’s 13” wide capacity should cover most boards you want to plain down.It has a three knife cutter-head which helps extend the life of the knife. The blades are easy to change and t...
