Good Saw Good Price

Good Saw Good Price

40 days ago by Huckleberry | 11 comments »

I just picked this saw up today to replace my old Delta Rockwell. Set up was not too bad on this saw, and dialing it in was pretty easy and straight forward. Within four hours I was making saw dust on this table saw. There are enough in depth reviews on this saw on here so I won’t bore anyone with this. I am at this point rating this saw pretty good and will update this rating as I put some hours on this saw. Time to make some more saw dust!

R4512 - 3 out of 3 at my HD had alignment problems

R4512 - 3 out of 3 at my HD had alignment problems

This is not a full and extensive review, because I only had my R4512 for a couple of days. I’m doing this review for others who were in the situation I was. I was looking for a newer saw in the $500 price range and really wanted the R4512. I wanted to love the saw. I looked past the negative reviews believing the alignment/trunnion issues were only on earlier models and had been addressed. Opening the box, it all looked good. The wheels and lift system are the best. I liked...

Ridgid R4512 Table Saw --

Ridgid R4512 Table Saw --

Hi Folks,I have about 3 weeks experience with my new R4512, and about 6 months working with wood. I started with a Ridgid Miter Saw, I was blown away, it is a great miter saw. So Ridgid tools are my tool of choice. First I must mention that I originally got a Craftsman 10” Laser guided table for Christmas, I spent days trying to get the thing together. I tried cutting a boards, but I got a bad feeling, I was scared of the thing. I tuned as per the manual, but the first time I used it th...

Good enough, but not perfect

Good enough, but not perfect

First, for what it’s worth, I have a Masters degree in functional design (woodworking) and studied under a master woodworker for 4 years. In our school shop we had large industrial 1960’s and 1970’s vintage Delta and Powermatic tools that had as much iron and steel in them as a Mack truck, so I know how a real saw is supposed to work, look and feel. Flash forward 15 years… For five years I have been using a crappy entry level ($100.00) table saw and it is simply god...

So far..Great

So far..Great

I just finished assembling my new Ridgid R4512 table saw, and checking alignment with the elegant little Woodpecker saw gauge I purchased at the same time as the saw. Run-out on the blade was about .010”, but the run-out was a function of the blade, not the arbor’s alignment. The fence was easily adjusted, and I left it open beyond the blade about .003”. Although I have no operating experience yet with this saw, and therefore, can’t comment on its accuracy, repeatability or reliability over t...

I statred working with mesquite wood about a year ago and one of the first machines I brought was the Ridge R4512 because of the price and the looks. One year later I am still trying to sell it. If I can’t sell it I will try to see if I can replace the motor with a motor with more HP. The Ridge R4512 is a good saw if you cut pine or soft wook BUT…..... it can’t cut mesquite or hard wood. It has a lot of problems cutting the wood. I have a lot of trouble cutting my wood for m...

Budget friendly and very workable

Budget friendly and very workable

After MUCH deliberation, and I mean months of research, I finally landed on the Ridgid R5412. This saw has been reviewed a few times already, I just wanted to add my perspective. 1. Buying experience – kind of annoying. I had to wait around for someone to help me. My local home depot had 3 in stock, but could not fin them anywhere. After literally an hour of searching, I gave up. I was just going to go order it online – which I did not want to do. I wanted to inspect the packag...

Great saw, upgrade fence ASAP!

Great saw, upgrade fence ASAP!

ok, So I researched Table saws for a while before I settled on this one. The only problem I have with this saw is the fence. It is a two piece system and I hate trying to align it. They should offer a small tube of Loc-tite for this to keep them from loosening! Or just simply make a one piece rail system!! It is garbage. In its defense I will say that i am used to the uni-fence and that may cause a little hate towards this unit. Ok now that i got that out of the way, all in all I do reco...

Was happy, now taking it back!

PLEASE NOTE I have edited this review after a few weeks with the saw. Here is the original review and my update follows: I accidentally spent the whole day in the garage assembling my new Ridgid saw. So here are my impressions: The saw is very sturdy, and assembly was very easy despite a few typos and some items that were not clearly identified. All the parts are well machined, and everything has a good but not excessive coat of cosmoline. I will not that there are several review...
