I have been using a washing machine motor with a grinding wheel attached to its one axle – without any kind of guards or grinding stands. Power wires attached by screw terminals that are exposed. The whole thing mounted to a board. It worked well enough, but I decided that as safety features go, this one was a dinosaur. I decided to find a bench grinder that I won’t have to replace later. Recently I just bought a grinder for the workshop to sharpen my lathe tools. I looked at other grinders and I could really only find a couple grinders with variable speed. This one has variable speed from 2000-3400 rpms. It is a great grinder. I have heard a lot of other people say that this grinder is junk. It isn’t.
