I bought this Wixey planer readout a few months ago when it was on sale for $40, normally i think it is priced around $70. Had I known how nice it would work and how much time it would save when milling boards I probably would have gotten it sooner, though I am glad I waited to get the one with decimals and fractions displayed. This morning I decided to start my time in the shop by installing this new Wixey Digital Planer Readout. It was very easy to install, although I do recommend a helping hand. It will make setting the leveling screw go much quicker. It took an hour to install from start to finish, mainly because I was the only one around and trying to set and tighten the leveling screw while checking for level was difficult to do with one pair of hands. Wixey Digital Planer Readout with Fractions Model WR510Bought from Amazon: $58.99 This readout is designed for portable planers, see below for this custom installation. The angled display, and auto shut-off are nice features.Love the fraction measurements. Accuracy is: fractions=1/32, decimal=.005in(~1/128). It is great to set the machine to get a 9/16” cut. I recently bought a wixey digital/fractional readout for my big old floor model planer. These are supposed to be for a desktop planer but I have seen others adapt them to fit a floor model planer. I have several other wixey products and have been quite happy with them so I decided to make one adaptable to my Grizzly 15” planer.
