Never drive screws with drill again

Never drive screws with drill again

03-27-2008 06:35 AM by dlgWoodWork | 12 comments »

I recently bought the Makita 18 volt drill. I wish I would have bought the kit that included the impact. I have never owned an impact before, but have heard good things. I actually ordered this on ebay as a bare tool only. I came in brand new condition. I was anxious to try it out. I put a battery on it and started to drive some screws into some scrap. I was amazed. My drill works well with a screw guide, but this was effertless. There was absolutely no twist when I drove the screws like w...

Steel City 6" Industrial Parallelogram Jointer

Steel City 6" Industrial Parallelogram Jointer

I purchased this at the March Woodworking Show in Chantilly, VA. I had been looking for a jointer for some time. At one point this was listed for $999 but since they have decided to drop this from their line, I picked it up for $499 with an extra set of knives thrown in the deal. The equipment was picked up at the show (Skarie was the distributer) and came in two boxes. One is the cabinet the other the jointer bed assembly. The boxes showed no damage so I felt fairly certain that everythin...

Initial Review for Rigid R4151

Initial Review for Rigid R4151

Been shopping for Miter Saws since last fall, read the reviews, searched the web, yada yada, 20% off sale on rigid tools at Home Depot so went and checked it out. I currently have some Rigid tools, (TS3650 table saw totally love it, TP1300 2 blade planer love it, floor model drill press don’t love it but its decent), looked at sliders, and non-sliders 10 and 12 inch, they even had some factory refurb 12” sliders for 349.00. I eventually went with the new R4151 and here’s wha...

Music to my ears...

Music to my ears...

I thought I would post this because I am as happy as a pig in mud when I am using these things. They perform wonderfully. I like ear muffs better than in-ear style hearing protection. Before I bought these I used a pair of ear muffs with ear bud headphones to listen to my MP3 player. Since my MP3 player has no AM/FM radio option, I often missed that. Well, as always happens, one of the boys got their hand on my old headphones and broke them. When I went to pick up more, I saw these....

Great little product

Great little product

This is the jig saw that I got about three years ago. It is a great little saw, and cuts like you wouldn’t belive. There is a few things that I love about this saw, first, the fact that it has dust collection is a big plus in my book. There is a little shroud, if I am saying that correctly that captures a decent amount of dust, and there is a blower on the other side to push it to the shroud. Another cool feature is the quick disconect blade thingy. It is really simple ot change from a ...

Good for the price-that's it

Here are the bits that I bought about three months ago for some up and coming projects. I like these bits becasue they came in a huge set, I belive 16, and it was only $25. They make flat bottomed holes, angled holes, and are just very nice. They do have there downside tough. They are very hard to use if not useing in a drill press, they tend to not want to start if your useing a drill. Some of them also have a slight wobble which is not so great, but most of them are perfect. They also tend ...

Great Workshop Helper - Horrible Directions

Great Workshop Helper - Horrible Directions

well i just got my second workmate so i figured that i could do a review on this one because it is the newer version (my old one was the one my dad had for about 10-15 years. it is a great little shop helper. it works at a vise, a workbench, and if you put a piece of plywood on it when it is fully extended than i little assembly table. there are many many little uses that you will find for this around the shop. they last a long time as my dad’s did also.the only reason why his broke was...

Best Dovetail Saw I've Ever Used

Best Dovetail Saw I've Ever Used

03-22-2008 09:30 PM by teenagewoodworker | 11 comments »

just to clear this up i haven’t used many dovetail saws so i have nothing to compare this to but for 12$ at Home Depot this saw is just amazing. i can cut straight, at an angle, or any other way i want to cut and the saw stays on track. the back pull seems so much easier and i love how it can also be used as a flush cut saw. also the blade is replaceable so i don’t have to buy a whole new one when it gets dull ( but for 12$ i would buy a new one). for anyone looking for a dovetail...

I love this brad nailer. i got it a Lowe’s for about 80 dollars and it hasn’t failed me since. it has never jammed and the performance has been great. i decided on this brad nailer because it had a 7 year warranty and it was the only one under 100 dollars to accept brads up to 2”. i like how its oil free too. this is my first brad nailer so i don’t know how much of a good thing that is but my dad (who has had nailers you need to oil) says that its good. now more on ...
