MJ Steel Splitter PRO

MJ Steel Splitter PRO

07-06-2010 05:45 PM by JimDaddyO | 8 comments »

As an owner of an older, inheirited saw with no guards this was the best and easiest solution I have come across. The saw had the stock splitter/guard disposed of after my dad’s first use of the saw…it was not good and deserved being tossed. I only have room on my saw for a single steel tab, and not for the kerf keeper behind it. Even at that I had to drill into the iron top to accomodate the tab. This is a reflection of the saw and not the splitter. The instructions seemed ...

Charles Neil Free Project Videos

Charles Neil Free Project Videos

While I am not an experienced woodworker I do occasionally gain skills and knowledge. I would like to recommend these free videos by Charles. I can’t say how much I have learned from them other than I feel I have gotten more out of these videos than all of the other free things I have seen on the internet, combined. Really a first class instruction and a down home feeling in the production. Project Videos

Milwaukee 12-in Dual-Bevel Compound Miter Saw

Milwaukee 12-in Dual-Bevel Compound Miter Saw

07-06-2010 04:49 AM by POGO | 6 comments »

After 10 years of reliable service, I decided to update my Miter Saw station (i.e. bench with a single bevel DeWalt miter saw sitting on top). My decision was based my son now having a workshop where I could “will” him tools which could stimulate his interest in woodworking. This would give me a good excuse to upgrade to a miter saw which has been designed to capture the saw dust from the cut. I do not have the funds for a Kapex, which has been touted as the gold standard for miter saws,...

Does anybody have an opinion on this lathe?

Does anybody have an opinion on this lathe?

I am seriuosly considering buying this lathe because of the swivel head stock. It has very similiar features of the DELTA 46-460 and the JET 1220. It is priced higher than both. Is it worth the extra $ ?

Big Bang For Your Buck

Big Bang For Your Buck

07-05-2010 07:34 AM by Ben | 27 comments »

I love this machine. I purchased this bandsaw in April 2009. I have put it through it’s paces on numerous projects and use it whenever I can. First Impressions I decided on this particular saw after days of research. I ordered it through the Grizzly website. I was so eager to get it that I ended up picking it up from the shipping depot rather than waiting an extra day for it to be delivered to my house. The trucking company loaded it into my truck with a forklift and I was on...

Excellent performance at a decent price

Excellent performance at a decent price

DISCLAIMER:This is the 1 and only spray system I’ve ever used/seen so take this with a grain of salt. this review is based on my expectations and experience from this unit. I have been brushing/wiping finish, but always wanted to spray for the benefits of:1. time (faster process, and faster drying time – also less contamination probability of the finish)2. ease and effort (less sanding, and less effort applying finish) I got this unit used off of craigslist for a bargain pr...

A Great Dado set..regardless of the price!

A Great Dado set..regardless of the price!

I know this dado set has been reviewed a few times but I just wanted to put up my two cents about this set. I got it for a great price from Rockler..I paid about $70 bucks with shipping. The box it comes in is nothing to write home about…in almost every review I have read on this set, the reviewer comments on the crappy box, but then I care more about whats in the box..I can make a damn box…OK I’m getting side tracked…here is what it looks like.. So I went out a...

A mobile base for Canadians

A mobile base for Canadians

07-04-2010 01:01 AM by swayze | 8 comments »

I picked up this mobile base a couple of weeks ago for my new Grizzly 513p bandsaw. It was on sale for 65% off the regualr price of $99.99 so I thought what do I have to lose and I didn’t expect much. But the base performs excellent on the 350lb saw. The only negative about it is that in order to operate the cams that lifts the base up so the casters can make contact requires a little help by slightly pushing upward on the saw. But still very easily managed. The base is easily move...

Good, Solid Sander

Good, Solid Sander

07-03-2010 05:59 PM by blockhead | 12 comments »

This is my first review so please bear with me. I’ll try to keep it straight and to the point. I purchased this sander about 3 months ago and to this point, I must say that I am quite impressed. This is a well built, solid machine with plenty of power for what I use it for. I use the 4” x 36” belt mostly for shaping handles for my boxes and the 8” disc mostly for rounding the corners on the boxes and lids. The 5 amp, 3/4hp, 3450 rpm motor has easily handled these tasks and a few others I have...
