A Great Little Powerhouse

A Great Little Powerhouse

This is a great, comparatively light, little compressor that drives my Milwaukee stapler, brad driver, 15 and 16-gauge finish nailers with ease. I have high expectations for any Senco product, so I did notice one minor design flaw if you plan to use a filter at the compressor connection. The compressor female quick release is facing more toward the roll bar frame instead of being angled away from it. There isn’t enough physical space to clear a large in-line air filter, so instead of...

Hey Everyone, Just got My Jet 1642 EVS pro 1 1/2 hp. Awesome. I will tell you the set up was easy, 1/2 hour at most, needed an extra set of hands to balance the legs while attatching the Way to them. Thank You Dann. It was my own fault, if I had read the directions I would have noticed that they will balace on their own if you do not attatch the feet first. In otherwords, Put it together first then lift the whole thing up and install the feet. Everything goes together very nicely. Fit ...

I rarely use a scroll saw. If I have to do some scroll work I either do it by hand or use a bandsaw for outside work. Recently I had to do lots of inside scrolling. I’ve got an old craftsman scroll saw that I less than affectionally call ‘Thumper’ for obvious reasons. But, it cut and was good for work that wasn’t too intricate.I’m making a desk for my niece and the side panels between the styles are the medical symbol for an RN as she’s soon to be graduatin...

I thought this may be an answer for benchtop tool dust collection. I often move and sometimes use my bench top planer and jointer outdoors in nice weather on portable carts due to my small shop space. It was rated at 300 CFM. When buying it, I thought taking dust right at the port and not having to travel through long hoses would help. It did not! The suction is poor, you could get a similar result from a shop vac if you reduce down the dust port to the smaller hose size on the vac. Like a sh...

This is a long review but, I hope it will be useful to someone considering this jointer. I purchased this jointer a few weeks ago and wanted to put it through it’s paces before reviewing it. This is an excellent machine and is one of my favorite tools in my shop. I spent a few months contemplating whether or not I even needed a jointer. After reading page after page of online forums I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger. I came really close to purchasing an 8 inch jointer ...

Triton Router

Triton Router

08-19-2009 01:45 AM by Ed Elizondo | 16 comments »

I purchased the Triton 3 1/4 HP back in April of this year at the Houston Woodworking Show. I didn’t have a chance to use until just a few weeks ago. I loved the action while using the plunge and the soft start made it easy to handle and manuver. Having the variable speed made it easy when using the larger bits for raised panels. I currently have it mounted on my router table and while although I wish I had the hand crank to raise and lower the bit, I make do adjusting under the table. ...

Sommerfeld Router Table and Fence

Sommerfeld Router Table and Fence

Large top and well made. Ordered this top 2 years ago. Took a while to arrive and when it did the center section was crowned. The table comes in 3 sections of extruded aluminum that you bolt together. I email Sommerfeld and they explained this was a manufacturing issue and that a new section would be mailed. It was, 2 months later. I was told to keep the old section, was only billed for the table, no shipping for the first one or replacement section and they tossed in a well made shop...

I’m a perfectionist. I only have a few projects under my belt but each one has been seems to be a leap in quality from the last. I was wanting to do dovetails, lots of inlay and complex joinery. I wanted to do it all but it seemed like I was going to be making alot of router jigs, bandsaw jigs and table saw jigs. I didn’t want to spend all of my time making jigs though. I wanted to spend it making these projects I see in my head. In my head they’re perfect and I won...

1 Unlevel top and 3 warped fences

It was between the Grizzly G0555X, G0513 and the Rikon Deluxe. I deliberated the total cost of ownership and quality of each saw. That meant upgrades, modifications, shipping and the number of years I was sure the saw would be useful to me. Many reviews I read on the grizzly’s said that they had vibration issues so they’d need new poly bands for the wheels and other slight modifications that actually add to the total price. I’ve never been ok with sub-par quality so I knew w...

Sawhorse with an attitude!

I just got my B&D Workmate 125 put together. I’d heard horror stories about the assembly process, in fact, the guy that sold it to me at the B&D outlet told me not to pay too much attention to the instructions. He was right. The instructions are terrible, but I still got it together in about 30-45 minutes while watching TV. Granted, a number of the holes for the bolts didn’t line up very well, but with a set of vise grips, a few hammer taps and minimal cursing, it went...
