Rigid 2410LS

Rigid 2410LS

I purchased the Rigid 2410LS saw from Home Depot yesterday. The saw was retailing for $499 and after tax it came out to $530. I managed to fit the entire unit in the back seat of my 99 Lincoln Town Car by taking it out of the carton. I stuffed the packaging materials in the trunk and slid the saw in the back seat. It was easy enough to lift right in, a bit of a tight fit but compact enough to get in there. That in itself impressed me. I got it home and before I unwrapped the plastic, I too...

Freud Quadra-Cut Roundover Bit "Wow"

Freud Quadra-Cut Roundover Bit "Wow"

I just ran 300 feet of 1.5 inch doug fir stair treads over a 3/4 inch Freud roundover bit on the router table to bullnose the work. I was very concerned about “tearout” as the old growth doug fir had a lot of tight knots in it. I had no tearout at all, and the I cut the bullnose in just 1 pass per side. The work is ready to install without any sanding. Great finnish. And almost no pitch buildup on the bit. This is the first Quadra-Cut bit that I have used, and I am impressed.

Miterset Standard

Miterset Standard

I saw a review of this and decided to order and give it a try. It’s a fine product—accurate and simple to use. My kind of tool! What is it? It’s a jig that “sets any miter gauge to precise angles”. It’s pretty self explanatory in its use but the extra cool feature is the aluminum “step bar” that’s provided that allows the jig to set any 1/2° angle between 0° and 55°. Simple and time saving. The inventor also has a miter setting jig for segmented c...

Lumberjocks makes another great recommendation!

Lumberjocks makes another great recommendation!

I can’t really offer a great review because this is actually the first band saw I’ve ever used, literally. After reading the reviews on this web-site I was sold on this saw, There’s one that cost about 200 dollars more that has a brake and a shopfox type base. I also took the advice and ordered a Woodslicer blade from Highland woodworking. I can’t express enough how amazing that woodslicer blade seems. The Woodslicer made me go from “This is cool, I have a nice b...

New affordable sliding mater saw

New affordable sliding mater saw

1894 days ago by Milo | 5 comments »

Hey True Believers, I’ve needed a new miter saw for too long now, and had actually purchased a 10” Skil from WorkShop tools. A couple weeks back I saw on their website that they had generic SLIDING miter saw for about 140.00. It was TD 10” Sliding Miter saw. Well, I’ve been trying to figure out where to put a big Radial arm saw I had (and had never used) and ended up taking the plunge with the new sliding miter instead. Since I had never opened up the box with...

Great Kit to repair my ole Dewalt Random Orbital Sander Hook & Loop pad

Great Kit to repair my ole Dewalt Random Orbital Sander Hook & Loop pad

I’m on my 2nd Dewalt random orbital sander … ..As anyone who uses hook and loop sanders know, if the sand paper ever comes off while working ,the Velcro pad on the sander gets messed up real quick . Sandpaper will never stick right again. I’ve gone thru the process of replacing the factory replacement part four times. Three times on the oldest sander and one time on my newer piece, Not cheap... ...I found Ali-Gator-grit repair kit for 11 bucks at Lowes. It comes with...

My "Almost" Dream Table Saw

My "Almost" Dream Table Saw

1895 days ago by Lenny | 37 comments »

I have been woodworking without a table saw (TS) for nearly 30 years; using a radial arm saw as the workhorse of my tools. I never had the room for a table saw when I worked out of my 8’X11’ basement shop. In 2007 I became the happy owner of a dedicated shop, attached to my garage. It is only 8’x18’ but it has an 8’ ceiling and is almost double the space I had. I plan to retire from my job of 32+ years next July and planned to use the money I will receive for my unused v...

Lithium-ion 18Volt Impact Driver/Driver Drill/Flashlight

Lithium-ion 18Volt Impact Driver/Driver Drill/Flashlight

I bought this drill/driver for a deck for my daughter, my Ridged batteries were dying a fast death. A side note on the construction. I bought a Hitachi 18 volt drill and ratched drill at Lowes for $229.00 before I went. Model WH 18DSAL Hitachi site I charged up both batteries. Everything worked great. All joyce hangers, screws up to 3 1/2”, decking boards, facia boards stairs were attached with the two screw guns. It required an additional charge on each battry and a second charge on...

To Infinity and Beyond

To Infinity and Beyond

The 50T Infinity Combomax is the best 50 tooth combination blade I’ve tried to date. This is an extraordinarily well made blade that uses a unique ATB/R configuration that features a chamfered raker instead of the traditional flat top raker. It has very low tearout for this class of blade, and is particularly good in sheetgoods, while maintaining good ripping abilities due to it’s 12° hook. Any blade that’s designed to do multiple tasks has some inherent compromise relati...
