Driftmaster Fence on Grizzly 17" Bandsaw

Driftmaster Fence on Grizzly 17" Bandsaw

05-31-2011 03:54 AM by bill4123 | 17 comments »

I just finished installing my Laguna Tools Driftmaster Fence on my Grizzly 17” Extreme Series bandsaw. I have only used it briefly to test it but I felt compelled to let everyone know about my negative feedback up to this point. I had a smooth transaction from Rockler and the shipping was prompt. The fence itself though was shipped as it came from the manufacturer and it is very much in-line with Laguna’s reputation…it arrived damaged. It was not damaged enough to effe...

It does what it says

It does what it says

I’ve never written a review before. But, there’s been many conflicting reviews on the internet such as Amazon and a few others about the difficulty of assembling the base. I’ve had no problems putting this together. However, the box did say “Improved Design”. Maybe that had something to do with it. It was quite simple, and the instructions were clear. The only reason I looked at the instructions was because some people were having such problems, that I was try...

Outdoor Furniture Protection

Outdoor Furniture Protection

This products is an OIL BASED outdoor furniture protection finish. The can says it will stain seal and protect all in one coat. If you read the directions, a second coat can be applied 30 minutes after the first coat has been absorbed. I have redwood benches in my back yard. I sanded them all down with my NEW Festool sander and applied this finish. One quart allowed be to cover approximately 36 square feet of benches. The price was only $ 11.00 plus tax in Calfornia (yuk !). I used...

Good Bang for the Buck

Good Bang for the Buck

The AR118 is a compact portable electric power washer. It’s not in the same league as a $1500 commercial grade gas powered washer, but it’s plenty capable for average residential use, and is a solid bang for the buck. It’s small, lightweight, inexpensive, and very portable. It does an excellent job on vinyl siding, patio furniture, concrete, paint and stain removal from decks, and is great at pre-rinsing major dirt off the car, though you’ll still need to wash with so...

My FIRST Festool-

My FIRST Festool-

The last random orbital sander I bought was from a retailer known as ‘Handyman’. (circa 1960’s) This Festool ETS 150/3 EQ is an amazing machine. Its does not even feel like the old Black and Decker that it replaced, of course that was 40 years ago. From the electronic speed control to the internal dust extraction system this the BEST random orbital sander that I have personally handled. When combined with the Festool CT 36 mobile dust extractor the combination of the the...

One of the Best books I have read on Wood Finishing

One of the Best books I have read on Wood Finishing

While I try to grow, and become a more experienced finisher I have ran into some roadblocks along the way. Like most of us have, I’m sure. A few Lumberjocks recommended this book by Bob Flexner. I must say I will always keep this book close. Another fellow LJ posted the words below as well and I agreed so I used his review as well. Thx, Jeff. Most everyone would benefit from this book. While this is not a tool, this book has earned its spot as one of my most useful assets in my shop....

First off, I’d like to say a few things to give you a bit of context around my review. This is the first table saw I have ever owned, so I have nothing to compare it to. I have been using it now for 4 months, I meant to write a review right away, but I am glad that I waited as my feelings for the saw have changed a bit. Now on to the review. Price: $859 Assembly Time: 5 hours. —————————————- ...

The last one you will ever need (or want)

The last one you will ever need (or want)

Good evening LJ’s, Last week I ordered and received this gripper Model 200Y, this on the verge of a cabinet job :) Well friends I put it to the test ripping anything from plywood cabinet sides to face frame materials and it lived up to their claims. the green sticky rubber really grips the wood without sliding and keeping it renewed is simply using denatured Alcohol to clean it. the plate on the bottom assists in helping rip thin stock, remove it with a simple loosening of two wing ...

Good evening LJ’s, 1. It came with an air hose2. Dual couplings 3. Goodies, Goodies,Goodies A few more of the great features are that it is oil free No oil to maintain, the controls are up front and easy to use, moisture drain is easy to use and operate, and the air ratchet, impact gun, and hose seal the deal. Out of the box the finish is nice and the overall quality is great but where this excels at is with my HVLP gun Although it is labeled for occasional use with spray guns I don...

i have three of these chisels, 2 that i inherited and one that i have just bought. i amassed every time i use them and very disappointed in my old chisels. the Japanese chisels may seem like a big investment, but trust me every time you use them you be pleased that you bought them.the specialist metal cuts like a dream and will hold its bevel for as long as any tool i know.i think if you can fork out the cash that they’re well worth it.thanks forreadingCO
