Well Dec was a good month; Blondie gave the approval for me to buy more machines… LOL… I picked up the Delta 18/36 Drum Sander & now this Delta 18 drill press. The box was in great condition, and they brought it into the garage for me. . I also ordered the Biesemeyer fence for her as well. Blondie and I had it together in less than an hour. The only hard part was lifting the head on to the shaft. Once she told me to quit being a whip and lift it, we got it on th...

i was in the market for a drill press table for my new Delta/Rockwell drill press. I was going to make one out of scrap, but after factoring the cost of t-track and clamps this seemed like a decent $20.00 solution. It came out of the box and went directly on no problems.I used it to counter bore the boards for an Adirondack chair that is in process. It umm, sat on my drill press really well and held the stops where they were supposed too and allowed me to speed right through all my drilling.I...

Here’s my review of the Shopsmith Mark V in drill press “mode”. I am convinced it is one of the only truly designed-for-woodworking drill presses on the market. Go take a look at drill presses on the market today… they’re all equipped with a beautiful dinner plate sized table. -Which isn’t worth beans for woodworking… want proof? How many guys have built their own “aftermarket” table to fix the problem? How many places offer pre-built drill press tabl...

The beautiful, big black Powermatic 2800 Onyx variable speed 18” Drill press arrived well crated with sturdy wooden skids, a wood frame and heavy corrugated cardboard protecting all sides The crate was quite heavy, about 302 Lbs. so I recruited a helper to assist with the unpacking and assembly. We carefully unpackaged and inventoried all the component parts and hardware before proceeding with the assembly. The entire process took about 45 minutes including taking photographs while following ...

Another Ridgid DP1550 Review

I ordered a Ridgid DB1550 Drill press from Amazon on 2/10/2011 and received it today, 2/18/2011. I paid the $332.22 amount which includes shipping. It was shipped by ABF freight. Home Depot had them on back order. They charge less but I would have had to pay $324 when taxes were added in at HD so it was only $8 more from Amazon. I got this DP because of 1) all of the good reviews it gets; 2) good luck with other Ridgid gear (especially my jointer and planer); 3) I’d seen them befo...

First off, I’d like to say a few things to give you a bit of context around my review. This is the first drill press I have ever owned. I have used some before in the past, being from a farm my dad always had all kinds of tools in the shop, and a Drill Press was definitely one of those tools. As a child all the tools intimidated me, seeing all of the belts hanging on the walls, the torch scraps on the floor, etc. Now that I am all grown up and have kids of my own, its very interes...

Masterforce 12" Drill Press Review

Masterforce 12" Drill Press Review

I had bought some windows through menards while they were having an 11% rebate promo going on. When the rebate arrived I decided I was going to buy a drill press with it. Out of all the drill presses that Menards carries this one seemed like the best one to me. The only other options were Performax and Tool Shop. So far it has done everything I need it to do. I especially like how you do not have to change belts to change the speed. The light is a nice feature and the laser helps get ...

Deal on the Ridgid 15" Drill Press

I just picked up the Ridgid 15” Drill press for $149, Home Depot has them on Sale in there lower volume stores. 20 minutes away another HD had the same drill press for $299 at a higher volume store so make sure you keep your eyes open for good deals at the HD. Don’t forget HD will take competitor coupons like Harbor Fright tools 20% off coupons too. Other than a little movement in the table that can be fixed with a little care this unit is great right out of the box and with the ...

Hi all, I just got back from Home Depot a few hours ago with my new drill press. Woo-Hoo! I chose this drill press based on the weight of the reviews that I’ve read on this website and elsewhere. I just brought it home a few hours ago and just completed setting it up and testing it. Out of the box, the reviews hold true about the accuracy of the parts fitting together, fit and finish, ease of assembly, and usability. After seating the chuck, I found the runout is about .003&#...
