LOCKJAW 7CCS Self-Adjusting Locking Clamp

LOCKJAW 7CCS Self-Adjusting Locking Clamp

03-05-2011 06:29 PM by Don Johnson | 6 comments »

Whilst viewing LJ’s Project page, some clamps popped up in the advertisement sidebar, so I decided to investigate. The blurb for the set of four clamps read as follows: Offering much more than the traditional variety, this set of four LockJaw self-adjusting locking clamps are perfect for getting the job done. Versatile and easy to use, the clamps are great for any number of jobs, and the patented LockJaw locking mechanism means the jaws open and adjust automatically to any size obje...

Great Clamps Period, the price is just a bonus

Great Clamps Period, the price is just a bonus

This is a bar clamp from Harbor Freight. I only bought two because I wasn’t sure how good it would be and some stuff from there is junk. These beauties only cost me $3.99 each but when I got them home and used them I could not believe the value in this purchase. The screw has a very nice rubberized grip which i like alot better than a simple wood handle. The rubber pads are nice and study and actually stay on, I tightened these puppies down and they did not slip at all. I bet if...

Ulmia Miter Clamp Set and Spring Pinch Clamp

Ulmia Miter Clamp Set and Spring Pinch Clamp

02-04-2011 12:23 AM by Bob Simmons | 8 comments »

Some viewers have inquired about the miter clamps used in the articles and videos of my woodworking blog. So, here is my response and a review of the Ulmia Miter Clamps and Pinch Clamps. These are terrific tools for clamping corners. Read on and you will understand why. Over 30 years ago I took a deep breath as I purchased what I thought at the time were expensive tools. The Ulmia miter clamp pliers, clamp rings, and spring pinch clamps had a place in my tool box then and still do tod...

Bessey Customer Service - Credit where it is due

Bessey Customer Service - Credit where it is due

Customer Service Last year I bought a bunch of Bessey clamps from one of the big online retailers and several of the K-body’s came pourly package and thus several clamps came in damaged. I contacted them and they sent some replacement parts. About a month ago I purchased some of the longer Bessey’s K-Bodys from the same online retails and they too came with pour packaging and had some damage. The online retailer offered a small credit if I chose to keep them or I could send th...

Gramercy Holdfast

Gramercy Holdfast

This article was originally posted on the Little Good Pieces blog on September 25, 2010. This one definitely comes under the heading of “why didn’t I do this sooner?”. Let me say up front that this recommendation is completely unsolicited and uncompensated. I had read for years about the usefulness of holdfasts, Everyone from St. Roy to Christopher Schwarz had sung their praises, but somehow I never got around to them. Most of the ones I saw were the old cast ones, and...

Outstanding addition to the clamping arsenal

Outstanding addition to the clamping arsenal

I purchase the Bowlamp Master Set earlier this year because there was some case work and panel glue-ups I wanted to do during the fall season. While building this Mahogany Bookcase I used them on both the face frame and the shelf edging. I have found them to be of very high quality and workmanship and had only very miner issues with using them. The problems were all on my end and not that of the product itself.

Okay These aren’t cheap but they are a HUGE improvement of the F style Bar clamps I’ve always used. They make glueing up table tops, and cabinets a dream. Large wooden handles give plenty of gripping power.I love em and plan to get more….once my wallet recovers from my Initial bunch.

new clamp purchase

new clamp purchase

I just purchased six of the Woodcraft clamping system clamps, they were on sale, plus if you bought $100 or more the shipping was free, I have been having trouble keeping any panels flat on glue ups, this system does a great job, though not totally perfect, you can get near and sometimes perfect if you are careful, and your 2×2 are made very square. you must plan ahead carefully when doing a glue up, otherwise it can be awkward trying to get your boards aligned, it is best to not add th...

One and Done!

One and Done!

I bought these bench hold fasts from Rockler. One moderate tap with my mallet and it broke. I had another one, same issue. Extremely poor quality and not worth a cent. I expect better from Rockler than this PoS. I think the Taiwan stamp says it all.
