Great Circular Saw

Great Circular Saw

10-17-2012 02:19 PM by pendledad | 5 comments »

So my experience is limited with circular saws. I used my Dad’s 1980’s craftsman a few times and I was always terrified at how loud it was. Anyways, I’m sure I would be very happy with any new circular saw that I purchased because I’ve really only used an old chunky low quality saw with a crappy blade. Anyways, here is my thought process on why I chose this saw and my first impressions from using it. Off to HD for some hands on… Step 1—FitRegardles...

Bosch CS10 Circular Saw

Bosch CS10 Circular Saw

This is a review on Bosch’s CS10 circ. saw w.r.t. a major design flaw, IMO, that I felt was significant enough to post here, so others don’t waste their time and money on this product. So this is not an in-depth review of using the saw over a 6 month period. Basically I first chose to buy this saw because it is often on sale for $99. at a lot of big box/hardware stores, plus on a lot of carpentry website forums many have noted Bosch’s durability and reliability (almost alway...

My old saw went to the I bind all the time not cutting well file so I went looking for a new one. I read good reviews on the saw and I was looking for light weight saw with a right hand blade drive this one fit the bill so I purchased one from Lowe’s on their handy credit card. I do not use the saw every day but have used it to cut 3/4” plywood, 1” knotty cedar, and rough sawn 1” red oak and it cuts like a dream. I would recommend it to anyone. I’ve listed th...

Dewalt DC390 6 1/2" Circular Saw w/ 18v XRP battery

Dewalt DC390 6 1/2" Circular Saw w/ 18v XRP battery

I don’t recall how much I paid for this saw as I bought it on a Black Friday sale from Lowe’s last year, and it’s sat over the winter. I finally got to drag it out to trim some 3/4” OSB for my workshop remodel, and wow. I was concerned about how much pressure I’d have to use to get through the material – but I was halfway done with the cut before I realized I was exerting almost no pressure at all. It’s been zipping through the cuts like a sports c...

Great Cordless Circular Saw!

Great Cordless Circular Saw!

When my whimpy Craftsman cordless circular saw finally gave up the ghost, I replced it with this one by Dewalt. So far it has been a fantastic buy. The XRP battery quikly takes a full charge in under an hour and gives you about 6 or 8 hours of steady cutting. I first used this in framing a loafing shed for our horses and it performed flawlesy, cutting treated 4×4s, plywood, and treated and untreated 2×4s. It comes with a case that has a mounting post complete with a clip for rep...

Evolution rage Review

Evolution rage Review

If your like us you might never have heard of the power tool manufacture called Evolution power tools. We tested this bad boy the other day and it is awesome. Lots of power and very easy to control. We cut Rebar, wood with nails, plastic and aluminum. Oh yeah, it was all with one blade. They also offer a diamond blade and we cut through concrete and stone with no problem. The interesting thing about this saw is after we cut the steel, we could work with it right away, it wasn’t ho...

Solid performer, but change the saw blade is a pain

Solid performer, but change the saw blade is a pain

That’s probably all the saw you’d need – My wife Famous last words for a saw that I quickly became annoyed with. I purchased the saw about 3 years ago during a Lowes fathers day sale. For the price, was quite the bargain. I’ve used the saw for for a much of home repair/renovation jobs, as well as many woodworking projects to break down sheet goods and solid lumber. At 13amps, it’s rated to have less power than many 15amp saws, but I doubt many would experi...

Nice Left-Blade Saw

Nice Left-Blade Saw

07-31-2011 07:41 AM by pintodeluxe | 2 comments »

I have really enjoyed my new circular saw since my skil saw bit the dust. I have remodeled a commercial office, and built some wainscoting with it and can now give it favorable reviews. I like the left blade for better sight of your cut line. I has plenty of power, and is easy to use. It follows a clamp-and-cut straight edge well, and easily breaks down sheet goods for cutting at the tablesaw. It doesn’t have a safety switch on the trigger, but I always use the blade guard so it wo...
