Fundamentals Everyone Can Learn From

Fundamentals Everyone Can Learn From

I took a trip up to Chester County, PA this weekend to take a class with Chuck Bender’s school, The Acanthus Workshop. Chuck goes by the handle Acanthuscarver here on LJ. What a treat! I have been woodworking now for 7 years and hardly do I think of myself as an expert, but I admit to being a little dubious as to how much I would get out of a fundamentals I class. Because the focus was on hand tools, I was more optimistic because I am pretty new to the way of the Schwarz having R...

A good time is had by all

I worked the WIA show this past weekend in Pasadena, Ca. showing the Earlex tools in a booth and also running a seminar titled “HVLP Spray finishing made simple” which was well attended by many of my woodworking friends, customers and newbies trying to figure things out. It would have been nice if everything could have been in the same buildin...

The course was in 3 hour sessions and lasted roughly 2 months, meeting once a week. ...

If you have been building furniture and other woodworking projects as a hobby and think you have a really good grasp of woodworking, think again. I had been designing my own pieces, building from plans and taking on various projects over the years. My humble workshop contains lots of hand and power tools and budgets being what they are, it may never be a dream shop. But projects do get done, with kudos from family and friends. I was the fortunate recipient of some gift cards to the Wood...

Renovate Wood & Transitional Planes Video

Renovate Wood & Transitional Planes Video

6 days ago by Vincent Nocito | 0 comments »

I picked up the video at the Woodworking Show after Bob completed his seminar. The video is about 80 minutes long and goes through the steps needed to bring wood bodied and transitional planes back to life. Topics include, rust removal, Japanning, flattening, tuning and building a complete replacement body. There are additional PDF files on the disk that have templates for making throat patches, totes, and new wood bodies. This DVD is a good resource for anyone starting out restoring wood...
