3 Horsepower Compressor Duty Motor

When I rebuilt my Powermatic 8 inches jointer I installed this motor in to replace the 3/4 HP the jointer came with. http://lumberjocks.com/b2rtch/blog/31439 This motor has been working flawlessly since then. For the ridicule price I paid for it (around $100.00), this is an excellent buy.I strongly recommend it.

Incredibly good saw.

Incredibly good saw.

175 days ago by b2rtch | 7 comments »

I bought this saw on sale for only $19.99 well over one year ago.I bought it to replace a similar saw ( but not the same ) that I had before and which finally burn up after years of abuse.(I used to to do all my remodeling in my house).Even me, who “love” HF tools,I was hesitant to buy a saw for only $19.99 but after over one year of frequently using it I am delighted with it.I use it for all kind of different projects but mostly to take apart pallets made of pine , poplar and oa...

Just in time to make my cat happy - awesome festool catbox eq

Just in time to make my cat happy - awesome festool catbox eq

191 days ago by glen | 21 comments »

Well, I finally got my festool TS back from the recall. The people at festool were kind enough to include a free baseball hat and this amazing new festool catbox eq. I’ve used several other catboxes before, but this particular one shines. Our kitty, Peter (aka spiderman), is presently getting over an injured paw, so this catbox really perked up his spirit. The box comes with a standard brown cardboard finish, is about 1/8” corrugated material, has privacy flaps that open on ...

<Milwaukee M12 Rotary Tool

199 days ago by PatrickB | 3 comments »

Again this tool review is just my opinion. I have quite a few of the Milwaukee M12 tools and really like them a lot. I have the “other” rotary tool too. The “other” tool is still working, the Milwaukee is no longer with us. I do not feel I abused the tool, you know, hours and hours of running with no breaks, battery after battery until the cover melted.LOL None of that, I feel I used the tool in the way it was designed to be used and with in about three months of owner...

Shopsmith 40 grit sanding discs (5")

Shopsmith 40 grit sanding discs (5")

204 days ago by Purrmaster | 5 comments »

I discovered these at Lowe’s about a year ago. Often I have need to sand out a defect and the lowest grit discs gets it done the most quickly. These discs are 8 hole, hook and loop (velcro) 5 inch discs. I’ve been very pleased with these discs. They cut pretty quickly and them seem to last a long time. Not as long as Abranet, but they’re pretty durable. These discs compare favorably with Diablo, 3M, and Norton (the other brands I’ve mostly used). These thi...

Gator Grit 40 grit 5 inch sanding discs

Gator Grit 40 grit 5 inch sanding discs

204 days ago by Purrmaster | 7 comments »

Let’s get a couple of things out of the way first: Yes, I start sanding with 40 grit. Yes, this is insane. I find myself often having to sand out screwups on my projects and the rougher the sanding grit the faster I can sand it out. I got these discs at Lowe’s. I normally got the Shop Smith 40 grit discs but they were out of them this time. So I bought a 50 pack. So far I’ve gone at least dozen of them over a period of several months, on different woods. Ther...

This is my 2-cents on this mighty fine finish from Generals. It’s grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr8!, As Tony the Tiger would have said. I used this for the 1st time on the 3 in 1 crib that I just built for my youngest Grndson. I used a sort of “French-Ball” to apply the recommended 3 coats. Small make-up pads (believe me, I don’t use make-up)lol, inside of a pair of panty-hose….......OK, stop laughin, I don’t wear those either…....I do have a hard time goin ...

I can’t give zero stars, I wish I could! I had to upload a picture so I used the “Marmalade Marauder! It saddens me when a company fails to honor its commitment, or notify the buyer if it can’t.Three weeks ago I needed parts for a chainsaw and ordered from ereplacementparts.com. I ordered 2 clutches, 2 clutch drums, 2 air filters and various other parts.I was told they would be shipped within 5 to 7 days. 2 weeks later, no parts. The wife called the company and was told t...

Preliminary Review Of The Woodpeckers WDPPACK1 Drill Press Table

Preliminary Review Of The Woodpeckers WDPPACK1 Drill Press Table

210 days ago by Brad_Nailor | 25 comments »

I have been debating for a year or so about building/buying a good drill press table for my DP. I have seen a lot of really well done ones on this website, and till a few weeks ago hadn’t really seen anything commercially made that really impressed me. I have worked a couple projects lately that I needed the DP for and just a piece of melamine poorly clamped to the metal table wasn’t cutting it.I went online for design inspiration and was looking for ideas on LJ and at commerciall...

Spar Urethane For Outdoor Use

Spar Urethane For Outdoor Use

210 days ago by Mike | 6 comments »

I’ve used the HelmsmanĀ® Spar Urethane for several outdoor protects and I wanted to share what I’ve learned about this product. First off, I must say that surface prep is everything in how this product will last over time. If you clean your surface of just, grime, and other foreign items, it should work well. I coated an outdoor bench about 5 years ago and it is now just starting to show signs that it needs to be refinished. The bench was out front of my old home on a dirt ro...
