First Saw and Glad I Bought It

First Saw and Glad I Bought It

1925 days ago by Mookie | 20 comments »

This is my first post and it’s about my first saw. I started woodworking a couple of years ago almost as a fluke. I bought a drill press because it was only $99 and from there I started buyng other power tools and suddenly discovered I really liked woodworking. I bought the Hitachi at Lowe’s after asking a guy at Woodcraft what he thought about the specs of the Hitachi for a beginner. I had no idea what or how much I would be cutting and $500 was a HUGE investment at the time....

Why I didn't end up getting this one

Why I didn't end up getting this one

For lack of current online info on this saw, I thought someone might be of use to the bits of info I’ve been able to get on this saw after contacting SteelCity (which knows no details on this saw yet) and going to Woodcraft and seeing it live – which was very dissapointing. The first disappointment was when I saw the photo that woodcraft posted of this new saw which was completely different then what Steelcity had posted in their ‘upcoming new products’ flyer. I had...

The W1677 is a 3hp, 10”, left tilt, triple belt drive industrial cabinet saw with a Shop Fox Classic t-square style fence that offers 26” rip capacity. Shop Fox is part of the Woodstock International group, which is also associated with Grizzly. Both companies are owned by businessman, luthier, and woodworker, Shiraz Balolia. For all intents and purposes, the Shop Fox W1677 and Grizzly G1023SL are identical except for color, retail circumstances, and warranty. The 1677 has two 10...

Grizzly Tablesaw

Grizzly Tablesaw

1967 days ago by conwaydog | 18 comments »

OK, I finally pulled the trigger on a tablesaw. I have had this one in views for a few months. I did my countless hours of internet reviews as one should for such an item like this. I must admit I did see a few negative reviews, but most of which was the customer service from Grizzly. I have purchased two items previously (Bandsaw and dustcollector) and had minor problems. My bandsaw shipped with no visible damage to the boxes but when I opened the box up someone had slipped the fork fro...

McBridge Cabinets, New Table Saw

1974 days ago by ND2ELK | 23 comments »

I got my Powermatic 2000 table saw the other day. It is a 10” 3HP saw with a 50” Accufence and extention table. I also got a free Powermatic metal sign, zero clearance insert and zero clearance dado insert. I bought the saw from Tool-Plus for $2,669 which included the saw, freight and tail gate service http://www.tools-plus.com/powermatic-1792000k.html. The saw was very well packaged and came thru with no damage. Everything was there except for the hardware package for the Accu...

Steel City, 35915 Cast Iron Top, 3HP 220V, 50-Inch Industrial Fence and Tableboard

Hello Lumberjocks,Just received and set up my new Steel City 10 inch cabinet saw with riving knives.A couple other Steel City saws have been reviewed recently, I’ll try to limit myself to what I observed and try not to repeat too much of what the other guys had to say.BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT: I love this saw. It was a major investment. I spent many months spread over several years researching cabinet saws. I’ve waited until I believe I won’t have to move this saw for the fo...

Ridgid TS2400LS table saw I can't do without.

Ridgid TS2400LS table saw I can't do without.

2009 days ago by scrollworkman | 17 comments »

I have owned my Ridgid portable for two and half years and now the brushes need replacing. This will be a two week wait for the parts to come in. I will borrow my Dad’s 60 year old Sears table saw while I wait.A life time warranty does not make up for quality.I don’t recall my father’s saw needing repair and if it did the parts were readily available. I love the portability and performance of the Ridgid TS2400LS but I would prefer a two for one deal over a life time warra...

Very happy but with a bit of drama of course

Very happy but with a bit of drama of course

Saw Overview:Well, I decided it was time to purchase a new tablesaw. After quite a bit of research, budgeting, and window shopping I decided to go with the Steel City granite top saw. Since I only have 120 VAC power, I went with the 1.75 HP version. I have called Steel City several time and received excellent customer service as you will see as this review continues. Anyway, I asked Steel City if there were any structural differences between the 1.75 and 3 HP models and was told that they are...

SawStop 10-Inch Contractors Saw with 50" rails and 30" outfeed table Assembly

SawStop 10-Inch Contractors Saw with 50" rails and 30" outfeed table Assembly

2019 days ago by Padre | 11 comments »

My saw arrived last week and my sons had to go pick it up at WoodCraft for me since I had shoulder surgery last Tuesday. Well, I felt good enough yesterday to start assembling my new SawStop Contractors table saw. The first thing I noticed is that it was boxed, packed and labeled very clearly. Each box had what was inside clearly printed on the outside so there was no guessing, no “eenie-meenie-miney-mo” type activity. I ordered:10” contractor sawmobile basecast iron...

Craftsman Professional 22124 10" table saw

Craftsman Professional 22124 10" table saw

2031 days ago by Frostyjo | 23 comments »

After months of reading reviews and a little groveling at home, I finally got myself a new table saw. I decided on the Craftsman 22124. One of the first things I noticed while I was researching was the Craftsman, Delta and Steel City hybrid saws appear to be identical. The only noted differences are the fences offered, and the Delta comes with extension legs. The shipping label on the box my saw came in was labeled ‘Steel City’ and had the model number of their hybrid (with a Craftsman la...
