Purchased this saw after spending time debating which saw offering I was going to give my hard earned cash too. Looked at Grizzley, Saw Stop, Laguna, Steel City, Delta, Shop Fox,Craftsman and many others. I debated the safety aspects of all saws against the Saw Stop and came to the conclusion that for the amount of time I use my saw, and the fact that I am extremely anal about working safely, I ruled out Saw Stop because their price point in my opinion is way to high. Yes I hear it now, what ...

Base is sturdy, but assembly is a pain...

Background: I bought this mobile base for my new Grizzly 1023RLW Cabinet Table Saw, which has a 20.5”x20.5” base. I had to do some slight modifications to get it to fit perfectly, which now that the saw sits on the base, it does. Assembly: I put the base together before doing any mods because I wanted to see how many modifications I was going to have to do. I say that so the people reading this review don’t think the mods negatively affected the assembly of the base. ...

Delta 36-725 Contractor Tablesaw: Follow-Up Review

EDIT: THIS REVIEW WAS EDITED ONLY TO ADD A LINK TO ADDITIONS THAT WERE ADDED TO THE SAW. TABLESAW ADDITIONS: http://lumberjocks.com/projects/101376 I bought this saw over a month ago and wrote an initial review then. The review included many assembly tips as the owner’s manual had not been updated since the saw was first released to the market. While the review is for the Delta saw, it includes many assembly tips that may be of value to any owner of a new saw. Likewise, this review foll...

A beautiful piece of machinery

A beautiful piece of machinery

I’m new to posting on this site. When I first got into woodworking, about 2-3 years ago, a coworker loaned me a Shopsmith Mark V from the 1970s. It worked ok for what I was doing, but the tiny table, difficulty in doing bevel cuts, and the fact that the table would lean into the blade if enough weight was put on it led me to the decision to get a different saw for myself. Don’t get me wrong, the Shopsmith is a good product for what it is. It’s a great multi-use product. ...

Tool Review, Craftsman Contractor Saw 113.298763, Made 1996. I’ve had this saw since 2002, so I figure I’ve used it enough to write a fairly balanced and accurate review. I bought the saw from a good friend who was the first owner. I paid $225 for the saw, three Craftsman blades and some push sticks. He used it primarily to remodel his basement, and he did one heck of a job. I helped him quite a bit and learned a lot. This is my second table saw. My first was a direct drive Craftsman tha...

A better saw than I thought it would be

A better saw than I thought it would be

I will not go over the safety side of the tool nor the politics as those have been beat to death. Well I’ve been lusting for a SS since they first came out, but being out of my budget started a savings fund. My Grizzly 1023SLX had served me well but I wanted to upgrade and really like the safety feature. With the last project providing a significant bump in my $$, I bit the bullet and ordered it back in early Feb. It supposed to be delivered on a Friday and it dumped a foot of snow. ...

Pricey but excellent

Pricey but excellent

This review is for the SawStop contractor’s saw equipped with the 36” inch steel rails and “T-glide” fence. And eventually with the cast iron wings. As a preface let me say that I know that SawStop is controversial among woodworkers. This review is not an argument for or against the SawStop safety system. This review concentrates on its qualities as a table saw, not the safety brake. I’ve had this saw for over a year now and I’ve been extremely ple...

The Greatest Birthday Present / Bonus in History

The Greatest Birthday Present / Bonus in History

I feel guilty posting the backstory on this, but the story needs to be told. I just started into woodworking four months ago. First, I built a workbench with some basic handheld powertools and was generally obsessed with my new hobby. In early January, I was with my business partner who happens to be my longtime best friend and I was once again talking about all the stuff I wanted to build and the tools I wanted to buy. He asked me what my dream purchase was, and I showed him the SawStop hot ...

UPDATE 1 After one week of use the EXACT same problem I was having with the Ridgid appeared. I’m waiting on Grizzly to see how they handle this situation. The blade misalignment when lowering and raising the blade is worse than it was on the RIDGID. It’s so strange that it takes a few days worth of use for this to show up. The exact same problem with two completely different companies. I’m cursed. I shot a video this time of the problem. You can see it here:https://www.youtu...
