Happy with it for the money

About a year ago I picked up my first table saw, an older craftsman contractor saw, for about a hundred dollars. I took it home, cleaned it up, replaced the blade with a freud diablo combination blade, and spent a lot of time tuning it. It didnt take me long to figure out that it was underpowered, the fence was terrible and would not stay aligned and the belt pully had a habit of flying off mid cut (even after being replaced). I spent several months dealing with it and finally decided I ...

First "Real" Table Saw Doesn't Disappoint

First "Real" Table Saw Doesn't Disappoint

After outgrowing my $100 Ryobi TS; I decided rather than slightly upgrade, to buy a saw that (hopefully) will last a lifetime. I decided on a granite top TS partly due to the climate I live in; it goes down to -30 in the winter, and I didn’t want my top to warp or rust when I heat my garage. Assembly was relatively pain free; it involved attaching the extension wing, the fence guide bars and the plug; overall about 3h worth of work. The fence needed a very slight adjustment to be parall...

Makita 2703 Portable

Makita 2703 Portable

I just wanted to share one of the Makita portable table saws I own and give a review from what I think is a quality table saw and functional with the right setup. I have been reviewing a wide variety of table saws in the past so I could spend more time wood working and not working. This particular table saw is the Makita 2703, which I purchased from Craigslist for $40 and had the Makita service do a complete overhaul of power cord, power switch, bearings and brushes. This saw was pretty r...

I’ve had this saw for about two years. It’s too bad that Rdgid quit manfacturing this saw cause its great saw to own. I have no mechanical problems at all with this saw. I do have the same complaints that everybody else that owns one of these saws has with it. The fence is my biggest problem, the two piece rail has a bump where it connects and I’ve also noticed that when you are cutting 1/4’’ and smaller ply it wants to slide under the fence a little bit. The bla...

Jet 708480K JPS-30: 10-Inch ProShop Table saw 1-3/4-Horsepower 30-Inch Rip fence With Steel Wings I have been woodworking for about 2 years now and felt it was time to spend the necessary dough to improve accuracy, cuts, rips, and broaden techniques. I spent a lot of time researching table saws based off cost, features, etc. I decided on this Jet for a handful of reasons: •Cost: $799.00 through Amazon: Amazon allows you to finance certain large ticket items for 12 months same as cash....

Excellent value for a riving knife equipped saw

Excellent value for a riving knife equipped saw

This turned out to be a very good saw, but only after experiencing a lot of problems with manufacturing defects. Positives are as follows: the saw is very solid at 270 lbs, and the built in caster set makes moving it very easy there are few cheap plastic parts, everything is cast iron, steel, or aluminum the built in riving knife / splitter is very nice arbor lock is nice when changing blades fence is 30” it has hooks on the side of the saw for all the accessories Sear...

I had these visions of my brand new magical saw comming in all dented and broken, but it arrived in great shape, so thanks to all the drivers that cared for my new toy on i...

Craftsman 10” Contractor Table Saw Model 21833 - Alignment

Previous review by Bobthebuilderinmichigan and good info from BoardRunner are here:http://lumberjocks.com/reviews/1225After a few months and a couple of projects with this saw, here are some observations ;In short, the 351-218330 seems a very good table saw for the price, with most everything I needed included. The rip fence is very good for a saw in this price class, and with a good after-market miter gauge (I caught the Incra 120 on sale) and an upgraded blade, performance is very good. ...

SawStop Industrial Cabinet Saw (ICS31230: 3 hp, 1 phase, 230 V, 13 A)

I purchased this table saw in early April 2010 and it arrived in early-mid May 2010. The delay, I found out later, was due to the fact that SawStop was making a transition to the new, upgraded industrial cabinet saw. Anyway, when the saw arrived, I was pleased to find out that SawStop had upgraded me to the new dust collection shroud, blade guard, and lock down throat plate for free. There have been several very detailed reviews of the SawStop Industrial Cabinet Saw here at LumberJocks, ...

Super customer service

Super customer service

I just have to rant (in a very good way) about Ridgid’s customer service. I have a 1998 Ridgid table saw, Mod. TS2412. Before I became the Proud? owner, it was involved in an accident and fell out of a moving truck. In the accident, the spacer, the piece with the two 5/8 pins that the motor mounts on was destroyed. Some one that thought they were a welder tried to make a new one. As a result, when you try to cut an angle, the motor has to rise above the CI bed. It contacts the out feed ...
