Well, I have finally used my saw enough to do a proper review for you. As many of you know…I did some up-grades in the shop…..with a new 8” Jointer, http://lumberjocks.com/reviews/705 , A new 15” Planer http://lumberjocks.com/reviews/755 , a new 17” Band saw (No review yet) and a new Cabinet saw. You can ask A1Jim, Todd C., Lenny and a few others….I about drove myself and them insane trying to decide what saw to buy…at first I was looking at a Stee...

Great 115 Volt Saw

Great 115 Volt Saw

90 days ago by Ben | 11 comments »

I finally received my supersaw after two months on backorder. It was worth the wait. Jet ran a Fathers day deal in June and I got it cheap. Assembly I spent the better part of a Saturday putting the whole machine together. Everything was packaged well and there was no damage. I would rate the manual a 7 out of 10. I did spend 20 minutes looking for one package of bolts that they had packed inside one of the fence rails with the cap on it. I finally read the manual very closely to ...

Grizzly G0691 Table Saw

Grizzly G0691 Table Saw

I have assembled my new G0691 Grizzly table saw, and made a few cuts, and will post my first impressions.I purchased this saw as soon as Grizzly put free shipping on it. This saw is replacing a 11 year old Craftsman contractor saw, and I expect it to be the last table saw I ever buy. .... Unpacking and assembly of the saw was a simple matter of following simple instuctions. All the parts were present and easily identified. The assembly starts with removing a brace from the tunnions. This ...

Steel City, 35915 Cast Iron Top, 3HP 220V, 50-Inch Industrial Fence and Tableboard

Hello Lumberjocks,Just received and set up my new Steel City 10 inch cabinet saw with riving knives.A couple other Steel City saws have been reviewed recently, I’ll try to limit myself to what I observed and try not to repeat too much of what the other guys had to say.BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT: I love this saw. It was a major investment. I spent many months spread over several years researching cabinet saws. I’ve waited until I believe I won’t have to move this saw for the fo...

Bosch Table Saw

Bosch Table Saw

This saw is great. I needed a portable saw that was accurate and this fit the bill. All I can say is BUY THIS SAW if you are in the market for something portable. It has everything you want in a table saw. Dust collection is good with a shop vac and I like that the miter gauge is full size and not a ‘mini’ one that come with most portable saws. The fence is aluminum with built in T-track which is very nice. It’s quiet and has a soft-start. I was especially impressed with t...

IntroThe saw is a 3hp, 635 pound behemoth. It is heavier than sin. Steel, Black, and Red are a good look for a saw. Very, very, very, expensive. Over $4000 with all accessories (fence, mobile base, dado cartridge, extra break cartridge, taxes). I know ….. that is really expensive. (And… I’m over it.) Why this saw: I have been taking woodworking classes for the last four years and have grown accustomed to working on the Unisaws and Powermatic cabinet saws. At home I was using a ...

Review of the Grizzly G1023SL Cabinet Style Table Saw

Review of the Grizzly G1023SL Cabinet Style Table Saw

680 days ago by Mark A. DeCou | 9 comments »

To put it bluntly, I love this Saw. Not, “Love” in the same sense as the way I feel for my wife, or my kids, or my dog, but this Saw is great. I was quite reluctant to buy it frankly. At the time, I had recently quit a job teaching woodworking where I was able to use a Powermatic Cabinet Saw that was about 20 years old, and I also loved that Saw. When I decided to buy my own Table Saw after leaving that job, I had to decide what to get. I didn’t have any money, an...

Hitachi Table Saw

Hitachi Table Saw

On first look the Hitachi C10Fl looked like a great deal but after using it for 2 years the following has become evident: FOR EVERYONE WHO THINKS I PUT THE DUST COLLECTION ON FACING THE WRONG DIRECTION !!! NOTE THAT THE PORT IS OPPOSITE THE OPERATOR. THE PORT WAS INSTALLED ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS. Rated according to the manufacturer at 3 hp found out that it is actually 1 1/2 HP a bold faced lie that they should be sued for. This is a terrible design, and although bigger and be...

Ridgid 4511 Granite Table Saw: Really good saw at a great price.

Ridgid 4511 Granite Table Saw: Really good saw at a great price.

I thought I’d post a review of my Ridgid 4511 Granite table saw for those who are interested. I purchased this in the spring w/ the ultimate power deal (or whatever they call it) for about $450. I’ve used it for several small projects now and have been pleased w/ the saw, but like most things in life, it wasn’t perfect. Pros:Granite top is uberflat. And hard. And rust free. Nice fence, easy to adjust and accurate, also easy to add faces (UHMW, etc) Herculift base is really amazin...

Grizzly G0690 Table Saw with riving knife

Grizzly G0690 Table Saw with riving knife

Received the saw about 2 weeks ago. Arrived in perfect condition. Picked it up from freight office using a flat bed trailer—-recommend using trailer and not truck. Four of us moved it to it’s mobile base ( I used the Delta mobile base and would recommend it for this saw). Table is well finished and flat. Assembly was simple and no “duh” moments. Saw has plenty of power and runs smooth with little or no vibration. I am sure it was just the luck of the draw, but my sa...
