Video Review: SawStop me if you've heard this one before....

IntroThe saw is a 3hp, 635 pound behemoth. It is heavier than sin. Steel, Black, and Red are a good look for a saw. Very, very, very, expensive. Over $4000 with all accessories (fence, mobile base, dado cartridge, extra break cartridge, taxes). I know ….. that is really expensive. (And… I’m over it.) Why this saw: I have been taking woodworking classes for the last four years and have grown accustomed to working on the Unisaws and Powermatic cabinet saws. At home I was using a ...
Review of the Grizzly G1023SL Cabinet Style Table Saw

To put it bluntly, I love this Saw. Not, “Love” in the same sense as the way I feel for my wife, or my kids, or my dog, but this Saw is great. I was quite reluctant to buy it frankly. At the time, I had recently quit a job teaching woodworking where I was able to use a Powermatic Cabinet Saw that was about 20 years old, and I also loved that Saw. When I decided to buy my own Table Saw after leaving that job, I had to decide what to get. I didn’t have any money, an...
Bosch Table Saw

This saw is great. I needed a portable saw that was accurate and this fit the bill. All I can say is BUY THIS SAW if you are in the market for something portable. It has everything you want in a table saw. Dust collection is good with a shop vac and I like that the miter gauge is full size and not a ‘mini’ one that come with most portable saws. The fence is aluminum with built in T-track which is very nice. It’s quiet and has a soft-start. I was especially impressed with t...
Craftsman Professional 10inch Table Saw

I have always liked Craftsman brand tools..so when it came time to look for a table saw that is where I went. I caught this saw on sale and was able to spread the payments interest free over a year. Sale price was around $950. It lists for around $1100. The only thing I have added to it is a movable base. It is a very solid machine and took four guys to unload it from the trailer. It is a very strong smooth running saw. It came with a Biesemeyer fence system, which is a real gem. Nice h...
Ridgid TS3650 Table Saw

I’ve had this saw for about a year and love it. It was pretty square out of the box and the fence is really steady in contrast with earlier reviews on older models. The ability to move it on wheels is great, it comes with the wheels attached a bonus. There is a 2 1/2” dust collector hook up up under the saw which is so so, it’s hard to control the saw dust on any contractor’s saw. I have had no troubles with it and would highly recommend it.
Craftsman Professional 10" Hybrid Table Saw

I’ve had this saw for almost a year now and I love it. I got a great deal on it also. It retails for about $1100 but it went on sale for $1000 and then Sears had a deal for 20% off that and then combined that with no interest for a year. I couldn’t pass it up. I ended up getting it for $800! The saw comes with a Biesemeyer fence which is one of the best features. When I first used the saw with this fence, I could have cried. The Biesemeyer fence works like butter. I don’t k...
Great saw for a beginning woodworker

I’ve owned my saw for only a year now, so I haven’t had as much time with it as many of the other LJs out there. Still I think I’ve become good friends with it already. As a person that is new to woodworking, I think this saw is outstanding. Up front, let me make this clear. The model number 36-979 refers only to the saw with 2 cast iron wings. I bought the Delta 36-980 which is the saw (36-979) plus a 30” T-fence. Other Delta models such as the 36-977, 978, 98...
Review of the Bosch 4000 Portable Table Saw and Folding Stand
321 days ago by Mark A. DeCou | 17 comments »
NOTE: MY RATING OF 5 STARS is based on the operation of this saw for it’s intended use, being that it is a contractor’s portable table saw. I have gotten a lot of emails over the past 18 months or so since I first wrote this up, from folks hoping to build furniture without spending as much as a cabinet saw will cost them. I continue to feel that this saw is not recommended for high-end furniture making. You can get by with a handsaw if you have to, but if you buy this Portable ...
Hitachi Table Saw

On first look the Hitachi C10Fl looked like a great deal but after using it for 2 years the following has become evident: FOR EVERYONE WHO THINKS I PUT THE DUST COLLECTION ON FACING THE WRONG DIRECTION !!! NOTE THAT THE PORT IS OPPOSITE THE OPERATOR. THE PORT WAS INSTALLED ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS. Rated according to the manufacturer at 3 hp found out that it is actually 1 1/2 HP a bold faced lie that they should be sued for. This is a terrible design, and although bigger and be...
Good saw if space is tight or you need portability
21 hours ago by ferstler | 0 comments »
I read a review of another Ryobi table saw elsewhere on this site and the owner was not happy with it at all. He basically criticized the small size of the saw and the lack of quality in the fence. Well, we have to remember that saws of that kind are low-priced items, built for use in tight spaces and for owners (or woodworking dabblers) on strict budgets. The reviewed saw was different from the BTS20 reviewed here, but it is possible that the fences for each unit were the same, or at leas...
