I recently decided to upgrade my table saw. The JET 10” hybrid saw I bought new about 17 years ago has served me well, but I wanted to take advantage of some of the advancements in table saw design that have occurred since then. There were two major developments in table saws that I was adamant about having on my new saw. The first was a riving knife. Not merely a splitter, but a true riving knife that raises, lowers, and tilts with the blade. Back when I bought my JET, riving knives wer...

Byrnes Model Machines

Byrnes Model Machines

About a year ago I bought (in fairly rapid succession) three of Jim Byrnes machine products. I had been looking for a miniature saw, and read glowing reviews of the “Jim Saw”. Well, I can attest to the super quality of all three of these machines in my shop. These were intended primarily for dollhouse furniture, but have been very useful for all sorts of projects. One of my current projects is a jewelry box that required many 1/4 and 3/8 panels. No sweat; just resaw (bandsaw) ...

Bosch REAXX Jobsite Saw

Bosch REAXX Jobsite Saw

I bought the new Bosch REAXX jobsite saw in July 2016. This is a great table saw for a woodworker who wants a high quality, powerful and accurate table saw but does not have the need or room for a larger cabinet , hybrid or contractor type table saw. If you work in a small basement shop or in your garage you will appreciate the small footprint and mobility of the saw. The REAXX table saw includes flesh sensing technology (Bosch calls it Active Response Technology). When the saw dete...

4 years later for this workhorse

4 years later for this workhorse

First reviewed this saw a few months after getting it in March 2012. 4 years later and I am as happy today as when I first got the saw. This saw runs smooth, is powerful, and is easy to maintain. The fence is true and stays accurate without needing adjustment, ever. Modular blade guard that it shares with Powermatic is great. Table top has been terrific and when I had to store the saw when we moved just a coat of WD specialist sprayed on it protected it from humidity and moisture ...

Wicked Awesome Saw!

Wicked Awesome Saw!

Ok. I apologize for the Bostonian title. It won’t happen again. Lol! So after about 6 months of research, looking at saws by going to tool dealers, Craigslist post, consignment shops and so on… I settled on the 36-725. My wife figured out the saw I wanted and got me the 36-5000! She figured it was better and I wasn’t about to argue. So on to the review: There’s not much more that I can say that hasn’t already been said about the 36-725. Differences are th...

SawStop PCS175 with 36" T-Rail - 6 Month Review

I purchased this saw after finally committing to building out my long dreamed about woodshop. I had a bunch of contractor/jobsite grade tools and didn’t really have any experience with professional grade WW tools. Background: (I’m a hobbyist) Originally I had purchased a Ridgid R4510 (R45101) and it failed while trying to rip 12/4 poplar. Sure…... it was a lot for it to cut, but what’s the point of a blade height of 3 1/4” when it can’t cut that much...

I bought a SawStop JSS-MCA

I bought a SawStop JSS-MCA

I bought it today, after I found out that the Bosch REAXX GTS1041A isn’t going to be available for awhile yet, and I wanted to get a safer saw now, not whenever. The point of this post is to look at positive solutions you have come up with for MY alleged problems with the saw I just bought. That said- #1. The miter gauge is loose in the slots. (.010” “slop”). Yes, I know it is a contractor’s saw (edit to add- yes that is a Job Site Saw). I had expected better,...

Initial Review - Impression

Initial Review - Impression

Hello, Long time lurker and first time poster. I picked up my SawStop Jobsite Saw about a month ago, maybe just a little more than a month ago… so I thought I would share my initial impressions of the saw. I began my tablesaw days with a skil saw jobsite saw… which was the first and worst saw that I have ever bought. I used it enough to finish a simple project or two, and then I put it in the corner. Accuracy, Repeatability and Reliability were all very poor… but,...

Grizzly G0771 Table Saw Review

Grizzly G0771 Table Saw Review

Thanks to everyone for their advice regarding my table saw choice. Now that I have it set up, I thought I’d share my observations and experience with it, hopefully this will help someone in their choice. Delivery was reasonably quick (to CA), I purchased liftgate service and they brought the pallet into my garage for me. I feel sorry for whoever was receiving the pallet of Apple desktops I saw in the truck, a tall heavy package had toppled over and pierced about three of the boxes… SE...

Powermatic PM1000 one year in

Powermatic PM1000 one year in

I’m writing this on the one year anniversary, to the day actually, of my tablesaw…. This was not intended, but as I am currently sitting at the Atlanta airport waiting for my flight home, I thought it a good opportunity to write my follow-up review. One year ago today, I wrote an initial review of my saw, the review I wrote was solely about the purchase choice, delivery and setup. Here is the link to that review Initial Review The setup went great, with a very, very minor hiccup dea...
