Freud LU85 Ultimate Cutoff Blade - an accurate name

Freud LU85 Ultimate Cutoff Blade - an accurate name

201 days ago by Class1E | 9 comments »

I purchased this blade to replace the OEM blade on my G0690 table saw. As i was cutting the kerf in my crosscut sled, I noticed that the OEM blade was wobbling very slightly. I decided it was about time to replace that blade with two dedicated blades, one for rip cuts, the other for cross cuts. This was the blade I purchased for cross cuts. My first use for this blade was to trim the edges on my end-grain cutting board to square it up and remove the rough edges after flattening. I used the...

Ezee-Feed Industrial Infeed Table - Long Term Review, on it's second installation

Ezee-Feed Industrial Infeed Table - Long Term Review, on it's second installation

220 days ago by CessnaPilotBarry | 6 comments »

Often on Lumberjocks, we see lots of reviews of items from folks who have just purchased the item. The Ezee-Feed device I’m writing about has proven it’s value again and again, over the last several years. I purchased this device several years ago, direct from the manufacturer, via ezee-feed.com. I paid full retail price, plus shipping, for the product. This review is 100% my opinion. I work alone. Sheet goods, especially MDF-cored products are heavy! Like most folk...

Shop Fox W1410 Table saw Fence w/standard rails

Shop Fox W1410 Table saw Fence w/standard rails

I have a Hitachi C10FL table saw. The Hitachi fence has been described in some reviews as “decent.” Not mine. I could never adjust it to anything remotely resembling consistency or holding square. It slewed terribly between front and back I always, always had to measure front and back to guarantee squareness. I got fed up. One of the new additions for my new shop project was a new fence! It took a lot of study. There are a lot of choices and a fairly wide spread of prices. I narrowed my choic...

Incra TS-LS Table Saw Fence

I see that the last review was posted around 3 years ago. I bought this item several weeks ago and couldn’t be more pleased with it. What the other 3 people said about it is still true today! I am totally amazed how accurate this system is when making my cuts. I just wish I would have been able to afford the router table combo!

First dedicated rip blade

First dedicated rip blade

251 days ago by dnick | 14 comments »

After all these years, I finally bought a rip blade, when I saw a good deal on Amazon. Always used combination blades before. What I really liked about the Freud LU87R010 was the thin kerf & the flat tooth grind. Always wanted flat tooth for grooves & spine joints. Blade was great. I ripped some soft Maple & Mahogony & didn’t have to joint the edges. Then when installing the blade, after maybe 20 rips, I just happened to notice the tooth you see in the photo, because it ...

Grizzly G1023RL Review/Opinion

Grizzly G1023RL Review/Opinion

I purchased this cabinet saw in February and over the months I have come to some opinions about the saw in general. I thought a review might be in order. Overall, I was quite pleased with the packaging and the instruction manual. Once out of the shipping container, I was able to easily find the parts and assemble them. I remember I had the saw up and running in less than 2 hours. I use the saw as a dedicated rip saw only and it performs well cutting 8/4 maple, mahogany cherry and walnut...

Leecraft HT-1 Zero Clearance Insert

Leecraft HT-1 Zero Clearance Insert

283 days ago by SirFatty | 6 comments »

I’ve always made my own zero clearance inserts, and on the old Craftsman table I used previously, it was a pain to make them correctly. With my new Porter-Cable saw, it looked to be even more painful. This time around, a purchased ZCI seems like the way to go. A quick search showed one manufacturer appearing multiple times in the search results: Leecraft. A couple blanks were purchased from, and fulfilled by, Woodcraft via Amazon. When received, I was surprised by how heavy an...

Craftsman Universal Jig

Craftsman Universal Jig

Well I promised I wouldn’t buy something and post a review without using it… so much for that! I’m posting it because I bought it on clearance- 50% off. The cost was just under $16 bucks. So in case anyone wants to pick it up-i figured I’d post my initial impressions and hopefully there are some folks that have used one. I would have liked to have made my own jig, but for the price it was hard to beat. So far my initial impressions- 1. it’s made in Amer...

Safety has become too easy

Safety has become too easy

I have been using a miter slot feather board on my table saw for some time now and call me lazy, half of the time I would not use it. Trying to set up for a single cut ripping sawmill lumber with one straight edge was such a hassle I quit doing it. I am a one man shop and the time it would take me to set up the old feather board I could rip 2 boards and for me that was too much. Lets jump forward to last night. I am working on a project that required crown molding and someone, I, forgot t...

Tenonalisious

Tenonalisious

As is often the case with Carba-Tec tools (FYI, Carba-Tec is Australia and New Zealand’s equivalent to Rockler), this is probably some other companies product that has been bought under licence and rebranded (this is common place – my Carba-Tec branded bench top mortiser for example, came with an Axminster user manual). It is none the less an excellent piece of equipment and well worth the NZ$180 that I spent on it.It is very heavy and solidly made, and was bang on accurate right out...
