Review of the Woodcraft Anti Kickback Safety Rollers

Review of the Woodcraft Anti Kickback Safety Rollers

02-11-2014 09:33 AM by steve_in_ohio | 16 comments »

I bought these rollers a couple of days ago because my table saw is old and it doesn’t have a riving knife and I don’t like to use the blade guard. Also I had problems when running long boards thru the table saw that they would try to move away from the fence, so I bought these rollers. I mounted these on my fence with a t-track instead of the rail that it is sold for these. After some simple assembly I started using these and I love them. They hold the wood down to the table and ...

BORK installation and review

BORK installation and review

01-29-2014 12:52 AM by Luke | 10 comments »

I am not very good at filming yet. I realize I messed up with the angle of the camera – This was filmed using my wife’s iPhone 5s (way better camera than my iphone5). I realize I need to learn how to film correctly, plan my dialogue, not ramble, buy a new, actual filming camera and so forth. I didn’t see a review or even a video at all of this newer updated BORK riving knife system and I really think it is a good system, you just can’t be a dummy about the installation...

Sawstop ZCI with replaceable inserts - almost, not quite great

Sawstop ZCI with replaceable inserts - almost, not quite great

This insert is made by ColliBeck and available direct (via Ebay) or through Infinity. I purchased it from Infinity. The basic idea here is that it’s a CNC machined plate with a replaceable wooden insert. You can swap inserts in a minute or two, and either make your own, or buy them from Infinity. I have the newer version, which doesn’t use parts from the original Sawstop throat plate. The plate is a beast. Heavy, nicely machined, nicely anodized aluminum. The inserts th...

I like I-Box

I like I-Box

01-03-2014 02:46 PM by Kerry Drake | 15 comments »

Got the I-Box for Christmas and finished setting it up yesterday. The pictures show my very first test pieces using a 3/8 inch dado stack. Once you understand what’s going on with the jig, it is very easy to use and it gave me near perfect results on my very first test. Set up takes about 15 minutes out of the box, but it comes with a very good set of instructions and a DVD showing the entire process from beginning to end. For me, now, the hardest part about making really good bo...

Incra Miter 5000 is very nice!

Incra Miter 5000 is very nice!

I have made a couple sleds and setups like this but I had heard so much good feedback on Incra and their stuff I took the plunge and got lots of stuff and this is one of the things I bought….. I have a Ridgid sliding compound saw and at times I just dont trust it. I bought this with the intentions of using the compound saw less and having a well made sled to replace my homemade one. First impression: Crap another Incra erector set and I wish it would of been phenolic instead of lam...

HTC 37" x 31" Folding Roller Outfeed Table for Table Saws - HOR-1038U

HTC 37" x 31" Folding Roller Outfeed Table for Table Saws - HOR-1038U

My 3 car garage is limited on space due to multiple machines and the tractor/lawn equipment eating up one whole bay so I decided to go with this fold down roller outfeed table on my new Grizzly 12” G0696X table saw. The concept works perfectly for me, its attached to the saw so its mobile, setup takes 5 seconds, love that. Lets take a picture tour and I’ll offer some additional comments. Packing FAIL but thankfully no damage, you can see some of the rollers spilled out into the...

Heavenly Performance

Heavenly Performance

11-17-2013 03:24 PM by maplerock | 15 comments »

I have been struggling with my table saw. It was not a joy to use. Although it is a dream of a saw (unisaw 36-953), the performance was lacking. The effort I needed to push boards through was far more than should be necessary. I had my blades sharpened (Freud Diablo and another carbide tipped blade) and had no noticeable improvement. I bought a new combination Orion blade. It was better, but not good enough. I noticed the blade and table were a little out of alignment. After fixing ...

Shop Fox W1410 - get one while they last

Shop Fox W1410 - get one while they last

11-09-2013 02:05 PM by Garry | 8 comments »

I just (Nov. 9, 2013) got a Shop Fox W1410 fence for my Craftsman tablesaw at a great price. I took a chance even though it has been discontinued because it has great reviews from those who have one. ToolsandMore.us in Florida still has some (I don’t know how many). Call them to confirm. Previously priced at $250 plus, they are selling them now around $145 plus shipping. [Note – This is not the same company as toolsandmore.com.] I mounted it yesterday and used it for several cu...

Incra LS - TS on ridgid 4512

Incra LS - TS on ridgid 4512

About a month ago I purchased a Ridgid 4512 to replace my dw744. Although this is not intended to be a review of the 4512, I will say that I am quite pleased with it. Once I had it assembled and set up I went through it carefully and set up the blade, fence and miter slots to all be parallel and was able to achieve great accuracy (within a few hundredths) without a lot of trouble. I have read about the issue many have had with the blade shifting position as it goes up and down, but I h...

Worth the money...

I did see an excellent review on this jig after posting mine, but here are my thoughts anyway… I purchased the I-Box about 4 months ago after seeing a positive comment on LJs and noticing it on sale at a local tool vendor, but did not take it out of the box as I didn’t have an immediate need for box joints – was in the middle of my bench build. I was recently asked to build a custom oak makeup desk with drawers for a friend, and thought maybe I would try out the jig fo...
