Leecraft Phenolic Insert GE-3

Leecraft Phenolic Insert GE-3

1913 days ago by Chris | 16 comments »

Purchased this insert from Woodcraft in Jacksonville for a couple of reasons; first and foremost it was cost effective. Secondly, I have had little luck making my own from plywood or other such materials due to the fact that I can’t tweak the height (no leveling screws). The first pic shows the insert alongside the factory supplied insert from General. There is a screw on one end and one side to adjust the lateral fit and small hex screws at the four “corners” to adjust t...

Nice going Pal

Nice going Pal

If you have a contractor TS and extra 20 dollars burning hole in your pocket then maybe you should splurge on one of these before the gas goes back up to 4 a gallon. And that’s just what I did today. I didn’t need them or have to have them to align the 3660. I had already got it to 0.001. But I’ve never been fond of contractor saw trunnions. When I finally got my saw last year,(Table saws scare the heck out of me) it took slight modifications to get my saw to register 0.001. And during that ti...

Wixey WR300 Digital Angle Gauge

Wixey WR300 Digital Angle Gauge

1917 days ago by Emeralds | 31 comments »

The Wixey WR300 angle gauge is the perfect device for setting up a table saw, jointer table, bandsaw or any device that requires specific angle juxtaposition. Beyond setting your tool at a 90 degree angle, the WR300 allows you to get +/- 0.1º and for those in need of accurate angle cuts, this can only be a good thing. Aside from setting the tools themselves this little device takes all the guess work out of jig construction, drill press hole angles and anything requiring a precise, repeat...

Osborne Miter guage for your table saw

Osborne Miter guage for your table saw

1925 days ago by Bob #2 | 28 comments »

I had looked at this guage before and had purchased an alternate one in the interim. (shoot me) I got a chance last week to re evaluate it and have these observations: 1. It uses triangulation rather than depending on a pivot point on a miter guage. What this means is that where a miter guage can get you close, the triangle can get you dead on.It’s just got more room on the scale to get it right. The extendable arm has a series of detents on the underside (20 in all) that gets you...

Shop Fox Table Saw Fence gets good marks.

Shop Fox Table Saw Fence gets good marks.

1927 days ago by mart | 14 comments »

A friend flew down to the lower 48 to pick up a truck he bought and was going to be going through Washington on the way back to Alaska. I took advantage of the opportunity to have him swing by the Grizzly warehouse to pick up some equipment for me. In addition to an eight inch jointer which I will preview later, I had him pickup the Shop Fox Classic Fence System with Standard Rails. I finally got around to installing it yesterday and it couldn’t have been easier. It went on my old Grizz...

Incra Miter 5000 - A tale of delight

Incra Miter 5000 - A tale of delight

1944 days ago by WhittleMeThis | 9 comments »

Having used a cross cut sled and a standard miter guage for years, I thought I would upgrade my ability to make angled cuts on my table saw. As many, I struggled with angle cuts on my compound miter saw, for mouldering and general carpentry my miter saw did a great job but when it came to very precise miter joints my compound miter saw fell short. The compound miter saw always required a lot of fine tuning and test cuts and often with less precision than I would have liked. I spent some time...

Incra V27 Basic Miter Gauge

Incra V27 Basic Miter Gauge

1986 days ago by knotscott | 8 comments »

The V27 is Incra’s entry level basic gauge retailing at about $60 and is constructed primarily of sturdy steel with some well placed nylon trim pieces. The bottom of the steel protractor head glides on a nylon pad that rides along the table surface. The Incra has a “GlideLOCK” miter bar that consists of 4 expandable nylon adjustment spacers in the bar to be perfectly taylor fitted to the standard 3/4”x3/8” miter slot on your saw. There is a removable t-clip on th...

Grip-Tite Sub Fence Clamp

Grip-Tite Sub Fence Clamp

1990 days ago by Chris | 12 comments »

This has to be one of the best things I have laid my hands on in a while. I needed a better way to mount my sacrificial fence quickly and I saw these at Woodcraft for less than $20.00 US. Just drill a couple of 1/2” holes in the sacrificial fence and clamp it to your regular fence. That’s Easy! My only very minor gripe is that the little knobs that you tighten them with tend to loosen when you try to remove the clamps. A couple of drops of 5-Minute epoxy in each threaded hole f...

Improved splitter for my Saw

Improved splitter for my Saw

2036 days ago by marcb | 6 comments »

I have an older saw with a horrible splitter. I’ve often gone without or used one of those cheap snap in plastic things for ZCI if I had to have one for serious ripping. This all changed with a piece of knowledge, part number 1349941 from the Delta parts website. This easily installs into Delta saws (even my old Rockwell) and someone made a website about installing it onto a jet. The splitter is thick, so it is not for use with thin blades. A knurled nut makes it easy to rem...

Santa Brought Me A Landshark

Santa Brought Me A Landshark

Or, more accurately a "Shark Guard" by LeeWay Workshop. Installation I’ve only had the opportunity to install this today, so I haven’t really had a chance to fully put it through its paces. However, so far I am impressed. The improvised packaging the unit arrived in was demonstrative of its small shop origins; the actual contents, however, were not. Installation was straightforward using the directions provided on the site. They warned that some owners of my saw (Craftsman 2...
