IN-LINE INDUSTRIES PP2325 Machined Steel Pulleys

I have a Craftsman 10” contractors table saw that I bought new about 6 years ago for just over $500. I am a hobbyist woodworker and the saw suits my needs. Recently the saw developed a really bad vibration and loud rattle. I took a look at everything using a dial indicator and everything checked out. There was favorable review in Wood magazine a few years ago regarding this product so I thought I would give it a try. I wanted the pulleys and link belt which was $50 shipped. They told me...

Rockler Table saw fence micro adjuster

Rockler Table saw fence micro adjuster

I bought the Rockler table saw fence micro adjuster on sale cheap with free shipping. That takes most of the sting out. Every time the handle gets bumped, even slightly, it falls a part. After regluing this cheaply made junk several times, I drilled and install a 8-32 screw and nut and peened the end at the nut to prevent it from backing off. It hasn’t broken since, but I do not leave it on the saw except when I need it. Save your money on this one. I’m sure there ar much better d...

A Great Dado set..regardless of the price!

A Great Dado set..regardless of the price!

I know this dado set has been reviewed a few times but I just wanted to put up my two cents about this set. I got it for a great price from Rockler..I paid about $70 bucks with shipping. The box it comes in is nothing to write home about…in almost every review I have read on this set, the reviewer comments on the crappy box, but then I care more about whats in the box..I can make a damn box…OK I’m getting side tracked…here is what it looks like.. So I went out a...

Rockler Table Saw Outfeed Table Needs Help

Rockler Table Saw Outfeed Table Needs Help

06-23-2010 04:45 AM by FJPetruso | 1 comment »

I purchased the Rockler Table Saw Outfeed Table & was pleased…. at first. The initial assembley & set-up wasn’t bad & it worked well. But I soon found that if I used the outfeed table for any thing other than an outfeed table, like an assembly table or what ever, it couldn’t take much weight or vibration or the wood screws that hold the outfeed table to the saw would come loose & the top of the table would drop down some & then be slanted downward towar...

Kerfmaker uses

Kerfmaker uses

06-15-2010 05:09 PM by tenonitis | 10 comments »

I broke down and bought one of these gadgets despite the high price since I planned to give it a lot of use. It works as advertised but I had a different application in mind than cutting half laps or kerfs. I wanted to use it for its opposite function, one not advertised, making tenons. I understand that Bridge City plans to introduce a new tool for this purpose, but I think they don’t understand that the Kerfmaker can already do this. The key is to invert your thinking and instead of u...

An Aftermarket Retrofit Riving Knife Does Exist...

An Aftermarket Retrofit Riving Knife Does Exist...

The Bolt On Ripping Knife (BORK) from Bob Ross of Walnutacre Woodworking is a retrofit riving knife that fits several traditional saws that were not originally designed for a riving knife. The BORK attaches to the arbor swing arm, and rises, lowers, and tilts in unison with the blade much like a true stock riving knife does. I’ve had a BORK on my Shop Fox W1677 since August of 2008, and have been very happy with it. It’s available in full kerf or thin kerf thicknesses, and will ...

Finesse Table Saw Alignment with PALS

Finesse Table Saw Alignment with PALS

06-04-2010 08:37 AM by Jack Barnhill | 12 comments »

The “Contractor Saw Precision Alignment & Locking System” (PALS™) from IN-LINE INDUSTRIES is just that, an alignment upgrade for a contractors table saw. It provides a significantly easier and more precise way of aligning the table saw blade to the miter slot than the manufacturer’s suggested method of pounding on or prying on the trunnion. PALS consists of 2 each threaded studs, flat washers, nuts, lock nuts, L-brackets with adjustment screws and lock nuts, and 1 Al...

A great upgrade to a non-riving knife saw

A great upgrade to a non-riving knife saw

Product web page: www.leestyron.com I have wanted to order a Shark Guard from Lee for quite some time. One night this winter I went for it. At the time he said (on the webpage) the wait was about 3-4 weeks. I didn’t get a confirmation email (maybe it got filtered) and somewhere around two months later I got the shipping notice for the guard. I didn’t try to contact Lee myself so I’m not really complaining. The whole thing came in about two days from the shipping n...

The Best Mobile Base I Could Find

The Best Mobile Base I Could Find

04-21-2010 04:55 AM by Twigger | 10 comments »

I looked everywhere on-line and elsewhere for a mobile base for my Jet ProShop table saw. This one from woodworker.com works great: heavy duty; leveling devices; easy to actuate the casters. Yes, you do have to provide the 3/4” plywood; but you get a very handy shelf under your table saw or whatever. And it’s easy to assemble. $72.99 Everything the web site says is true:Combine the Universal Mobile Base Kit with your 3/4” plywood and you can easily build a movable b...

Keeping the shop cleaner

Keeping the shop cleaner

03-27-2010 04:06 PM by brianl | 4 comments »

In February I finally got a table saw. It’s used and fairly old, but it was free, so I can’t complain too much. It didn’t come with a stand or with any sort of dust collection mechanism. After tuning it up and running some plywood through it I was amazed at how much dust was kicked up. I decided that I needed to get a bag or something to help. I searched around and found the Keen Product's DustCutter on Amazon. Once orderded, it was shipped very quickly and arrived q...
