Keeping the shop cleaner

Keeping the shop cleaner

In February I finally got a table saw. It’s used and fairly old, but it was free, so I can’t complain too much. It didn’t come with a stand or with any sort of dust collection mechanism. After tuning it up and running some plywood through it I was amazed at how much dust was kicked up. I decided that I needed to get a bag or something to help. I searched around and found the Keen Product's DustCutter on Amazon. Once orderded, it was shipped very quickly and arrived q...

Up-Grade Miter Gauge

Up-Grade Miter Gauge

1601 days ago by blackcherry | 11 comments »

I recently have been up-grading some of my tool and on my short list was my table saw miter gauge. I felt that it was OK but not up to snuff with what was newer on the market. I’ve been a Incra user for many year and have never been displeased with any of there products so I started looking around and found a new Miter 1000SE on E-bay for sale below the market price. It was on one of those buy now or make and offer kinda deals so I made a offer of 20 dollars below what it lists at an...

Can't Believe I Didn't Buy It Sooner

Can't Believe I Didn't Buy It Sooner

I had considered buying the Ezee-Feed Infeed Table for quite sometime. I have noticed that I’m just not as stong as I used to be. Trying to hold a sheet of plywood up and keep it against the fence was getting to be a struggle. I was getting burn marks, uneven cuts, felt it was really hard on my blades and it was not safe. I needed something that was easy to put on and take off my saw. The Ezee-Feed Table has proven to be the answer. With the folding legs, it is easy to store when not...

New Splitter From the St. Louis WW Show

New Splitter From the St. Louis WW Show

1609 days ago by John Gray | 8 comments »

I purchased this at the WW show a couple of weeks ago and it works great. I still treat the saw with all the due caution I did before the splitter installation. Use and follow all the safety precautions outlined in your saw’s manual.I’m going to post below the information provided by the company that made it’s web site. Our New MJ Splitter™ SteelPRO is constructed from a 100% polycarbonate shell and reinforced with a solid stainless steel core. Our toughest splitter eve...

milescraft feather board

milescraft feather board

Yo whats up everybody I wanted to do a review of the milescraft fetherboard. Most people make their own feather boards but I use this feather board from milescraft and it works pretty good. The problem with the feather boards that people make is that its really hard to adjust them to different tools. This feather board is adjustable to 2 different size miter slots. You can adjust the feather board to work on most cuts. You can use this feather board on a router table, tablesaw, and a bandsaw.

Micro Jig SteelPro Splitter - for 1/8" Kerf Blades

Micro Jig SteelPro Splitter - for 1/8" Kerf Blades

You can purchase this product from Incra for about $35. I was interested in getting a splitter that I would use, as my rip guard/splitter was a pain to install every time I wanted to rip something. It comes as a kit, with an installation jig, and several splitters of various widths. The instruction sheet was fairly easy to follow. You need a couple pieces of 1/2 inch stock, one for the jig to attach to, and one as a test piece. They have you drill the holes in your saw insert with the prov...

Milescraft push stick kit

Milescraft push stick kit

Yo whats up everybody I wanted to do a review on the milescraft push stick kit. In episode 22 I built a push stick and that worked pretty good but I always had a hard time getting the wood to go straight against the fence. I got this push stick kit from milescraft .You get a depth gauge and a base with the push stick. The way it is designed you have a lot downward pressure which helps to control the wood much better then the one I used to use.

“This is awesome,” said host John Palanca, on an episode of DIY Network’s “Under Construction.” “It’s a great concept, great idea that is well thought out by a carpenter. Half the job on a jobsite is setting up and this is already set up for you.”

Milescraft blade changer

Milescraft blade changer

1647 days ago by kosta | 5 comments »

Yo whats up everybody I wanted to do a review of the milescraft blade changer. I have had this blade changer for about 2 weeks and it works pretty good. The way it works is you put it next to the blade and you raise the blade. It has to be lined up straight with the blade. Then you keep raising the blade until the changer lifts off the table that means that its locked in. Then you take the blade off. I have always had problems using a second wrench on the left side of the blade so this is muc...

Freud SD606 Dado set - Tradeoffs

Freud SD606 Dado set - Tradeoffs

1658 days ago by richgreer | 8 comments »

This dado set is the 6 inch version of Freud’s dial-a-width model. There are several things I like about it but, as is often the case, there are trade-offs. The dial-a-width concept means that you do not need any shims. The outer cutter has a mechanism that, effectively, causes the width of that cutter to expand up to 7/64 of an inch in increments of 1/256 of an inch. Using the dial-a-width mechanism in lieu of shims is very convenient. Me and those shims never got along very well....
