How do you keep your portable table saw dry in the back of your pickup truck...

I’ve had people asking for a cover for a folding, portable table saw. A lot of people fold them up and throw them in the back of the pickup truck. Then, off they go, down the road…and it starts to rain. Pull over, drag a tarp, or a piece of plywood on it, it’s raining and the tarp blows off… OR… pull the KerryAll Saw Pouch out from behind the seat (they fold up to about the size of a half-roll of paper towel. Two bungee cords and it’s secure. It’s ...

Good Box Joint Jig

Good Box Joint Jig

04-03-2011 02:34 AM by RandyMorter | 10 comments »

Just so you know, this is the first commercial jig I’ve ever used like this. I’ve never cut a box joint before in my life. In other words, I’m a noob. I ordered the Woodhaven 4555 Box Joint Jig from Amazon for $59.99 on 3/26/2011 and received it in Phoenix on 4/1/2011. I purchased it from Amazon rather than directly from Woodhaven because the shipping was free but now I see Woodhaven ships free on orders over $50 (according to the catalog that came with the unit). I lo...

A simple solution

A simple solution

I bought this featherboard yesterday for use with my old craftsman table saw. Works about as well as any miter slot featherboard, but the on/off magnetic feature means I can mount this anywhere on the primary table or extension wings. Although I did not consider it at the time of purchase, I could also see this product being useful on my jointer, and especially my shaper. The magnets are STRONG, and the featherboard didn’t move even slightly during the two cuts I’ve made with it s...

Laguna Professional Sliding Table

Laguna Professional Sliding Table

03-22-2011 06:55 AM by thamar | 20 comments »

As part of my shop upgrade, I decided to ditch my old “Mule” sliding table. I ordered the Laguna Professional Sliding Table. The website indicated that it would fit my Delta Unisaw and the person I talked to at Laguna said that some of their customers had mounted it on Unisaws. Once I received the sliding table, it just didn’t seem to me that it would fit my right tilt Unisaw. The right hand mounting bracket would have gotten in the way of the tilt wheel. The sliding...

Wixey Saw Fence Digital Readout

Wixey Saw Fence Digital Readout

I was super excited when I got this at Rockler a couple weeks ago. They had a great sale spend $100 get $30 off and I thought this would be the perfect little add on to my newly restore G1023. So today I finally decided to put this slick little sucker onto my TS. Instructions are not what I like but they are easy enough to figure out. I drilled hold in my tubes got the rails of the DRO connected. Then went to attach the hangers to the DRO Rails and, well nothing as in it wouldn’t tig...

Safety First Featherboard

Safety First Featherboard

I know that the other day I wrote that we should make our own jigs rather than get hyped into buying one.Well it seems that I WAS WRONG when it came to featherboards. This device from Milescraft is well made, practical and eye appealing. It comes complete with fittings for both 3/4 and 5/8 miter slots.I ordered the double set from Amazon, this really makes sense both dollar wise and usefulness. I leave one on the router table fence and one in the table saw slot. Moving one or the other when ...

Fantastic Affordable Blades from Bosch

Fantastic Affordable Blades from Bosch

02-04-2011 02:46 AM by SchotterWoodworking | 3 comments »

I picked this 60 tooth ATB from Menards about nine months ago for $60. The blade is not thin kerf, she can be resharpened, she’s balanced and quiet. Crosscuts have been clean and smooth with minimal tearout. I can’t afford Forrest and I wanted something with some beef to it for making crosscuts, Bosch has fit the bill. They have a full line of “Pro Series” blades which I have decided to invest in.

100x better than the stock miter gauge

100x better than the stock miter gauge

02-03-2011 12:23 AM by Vrtigo1 | 15 comments »

Just picked this up from Amazon last week and it arrived two days ago. Assembly took about 30 minutes and was straightforward. I especially like the adjustability of the bar that fits in the miter track. It was close right out of the box, but after adjusting it, there is literally zero play and it still slides like butter. The abrasive that sticks to the face of the miter gauge really works. I cut a few test miters and the workpiece stayed exactly where I put it. The extendability is ...

SD508 Freud 8" Dado Set

SD508 Freud 8" Dado Set

01-03-2011 01:14 AM by Ken90712 | 9 comments »

I was making some candleholders and my Dado Blades were junk and chipping wood on every cut. Then my local Rockler Store sent me a coupon with 40% off any single item excluding Power Tools. Sweet!, I tell Blondie I’m off to Rockler to save some money… LOL…. The set is $199.00 so that’s 80 bucks off. She brainwashed my sometime ago to always look for sales. Another story sometime, LOL…. Man, I thought my Forrest Woodworker 2 Blade was something. This set is more than impressive! Th...

magic molder is great

magic molder is great

now, i’m by no means am I a professional but the results on this thing i think is exceptional. very little sanding if any at all , quick and easy plugs changes, and the ease of use on the table makes it a winner. first off i only have a portable table saw but i tell ya brothers the saw never bogged down at all when i was feeding mahogany, oak or walnut through as i was making some profiles—just pure experimentation by the way. the plugs are not cheap but they work very well̵...
