Well you could get by without them. $15 a pair from Rockler. What the heck are they? They hold aux. fences and stopblocks to your existing rip fence, for crosscutting and dado operations where the blade would otherwise obliterate your existing fence. Just rip a piece of ply, melamine, or other stable stock, drill two holes for the clamps, and clamp away. The biesemeyer aux. fences with clamps are around $150. The only advantage I see is that their fence is exactly 1” thic...

The best table saw (and shop) accessory I have ever owned

The best table saw (and shop) accessory I have ever owned

At the first woodworking show I attended years ago I became aware of the Incra table saw fence systems, and bought their first version almost 10 years ago. I upgraded to their LS system (lead-screw) about 4 years ago by purchasing a new postioner w/machined fence, which is even easier to use. What the Incra fence does is allow for precise and repeatable fence alignment on your table saw: > Precision – allows adjustments as fine as .001”, though their standard measuring meth...

Rockler Thin Rip Tablesaw Jig

Rockler Thin Rip Tablesaw Jig

70 days ago by Tim Dorcas | 13 comments »

In the past one of the things I hated to was rip thin pieces of wood. Typically this is done to create keys for mitered joints. Last December I was going to build a one of the many jigs that you can find online when Rockler came out with their Thin Rip Tablesaw Jig. For $20 I thought, “Why not?” It arrived about three weeks later (They were sold old initially and everything takes longer in Canada.) and I was surprised at the quality of it’s construction. If anything the fit ...

Accuracy out of the box

Accuracy out of the box

I have owned a Rockwell Unisaw for 4 years now. I bought it used from the US Army. It had the original fence on it. It was a constant job to keep it aligned and semi accurate. I recently was able to purchase the Delta 36-U30 Unifence. I took only about an hour to assemble it. It was amazing after I was done to do my first test cut. I set the curser at 6” and made my cut and low and behold it came out to six inches. Coming from what I just had all I could say was WOW! With my o...

TS-Aligner Jr.

TS-Aligner Jr.

Initial Set up My TS-Aligner Jr. arrived with the instruction video and manual in a foam case. Each component of the TS-Aligner has it’s own home in the foam insert. The manual was easy to read and understand. The video (DVD) that was included was also put together nicely. It goes through the capabilities of the device (some I never even thought of). I think it will serve as a nice reference to refer back to later. One of the features of the TS-Aligner Jr. that I ...

Rockler Thin Rip Tablesaw Jig

I know allot of you have made your own version of a thin strip ripping jig. I fiddled with making one and was in too much of a hurry to get my project going. I looked at this one online and liked the design and it was only $19.99 with free shipping. As usual Rockler shipped it out right away, and it was on my doorstep 4 days after I ordered it. They also accept Paypal now which is really convenient. It comes with simple instructions on the back of the box. The whole device is made out of pheno...

JessEm Mite-R-Excel™ Precision Miter Gauge

JessEm Mite-R-Excel™ Precision Miter Gauge

119 days ago by WayneC | 9 comments »

This is from an post originally in my blog. This is one sweet miter gauge and is highly recommended. It is a bit spendy and if I had thought things out more in advance I think I would have probably saved my money and gotten their sliding table. It is accurate, easy to set up and built like a tank. It has a 24” fence and can extend to 36”. The gauge has a Dual-Indexing Angle Location System that provides precise “positive stop” angle locating to every ½ degree an...

Delta Heavy Duty Precision Miter Guage 36-946

Delta Heavy Duty Precision Miter Guage 36-946

I have only seen this miter guage on ebay – never in a store nor in a Delta catalogue. When you search the product number on the Delta website it only comes up as an accessory to their hybrid tablesaw. The ebayer who lists it sells one a week and I lowballed it for 2 years before I finally got it for $80, including shipping. In the last two weeks they have sold for less than my $50. What an improvement for my vintage unisaw! The design is excellent including an eccentric lock scr...

Smartmiter miter gauge sled

Smartmiter miter gauge sled

I’ve been in the market for a new miter gauge . I’ve sold my previous Kreg due to it’s short length and light structure. While it was exceptionally accurate, I just found the crosscut length too short and was always afraid if I ever dropped it would be bent. I considered the Jessum, Accumiter, and Osbourne as the top contenders until I found the Smart Miter. The Jessum I found a little fiddly with the two pin set up and there did seem to be some issues with this system from what I’ve read on...

Rock solid Rockler tenoning jig

Rock solid Rockler tenoning jig

203 days ago by GusRod | 18 comments »

I’ve used shop made wood and metal tenoning jigs before but this one far exceeded my expectations. The tool is as hefty as they come but glides along the miter slot as if it was on a cushion of air. It’s clamp is strong enough to easily hold three foot 4×4’s for a blacksmith workbench I made recently and it’s various adjustments make it ideal for accurate cuts on cabinet and furniture work. I highly recommend this tool and at around sixty five dollars it is well w...
