Osborne Miter guage for your table saw

Osborne Miter guage for your table saw

200 days ago by Bob #2 | 25 comments »

I had looked at this guage before and had purchased an alternate one in the interim. (shoot me) I got a chance last week to re evaluate it and have these observations: 1. It uses triangulation rather than depending on a pivot point on a miter guage. What this means is that where a miter guage can get you close, the triangle can get you dead on.It’s just got more room on the scale to get it right. The extendable arm has a series of detents on the underside (20 in all) that gets you...

Improved splitter for my Saw

Improved splitter for my Saw

311 days ago by marcb | 4 comments »

I have an older saw with a horrible splitter. I’ve often gone without or used one of those cheap snap in plastic things for ZCI if I had to have one for serious ripping. This all changed with a piece of knowledge, part number 1349941 from the Delta parts website. This easily installs into Delta saws (even my old Rockwell) and someone made a website about installing it onto a jet. The splitter is thick, so it is not for use with thin blades. A knurled nut makes it easy to rem...

Rockler Thin Rip Tablesaw Jig

Rockler Thin Rip Tablesaw Jig

487 days ago by Tim Dorcas | 13 comments »

In the past one of the things I hated to was rip thin pieces of wood. Typically this is done to create keys for mitered joints. Last December I was going to build a one of the many jigs that you can find online when Rockler came out with their Thin Rip Tablesaw Jig. For $20 I thought, “Why not?” It arrived about three weeks later (They were sold old initially and everything takes longer in Canada.) and I was surprised at the quality of it’s construction. If anything the fit ...

Great TS Upgrade For A Very Reasonable Price

Great TS Upgrade For A Very Reasonable Price

60 days ago by dfarr | 9 comments »

I’ve always struggled with the cheap blade adjustment cranks (pictured right) on my 70s vintage table saw. I found these cast iron handwheels (H3189 – Cast Iron Handwheel – 6”) and chromed handles (H3205 – 4” x 3/8”-16) on the Grizzly web site. The handwheels were only $8.50 and the handles were $2.95. This was a great deal compared to other places I’ve looked at similar handwheels. The wheels come with a small center hole that I had to bore ou...

Osborne EB-3 Miter Gauge

Osborne EB-3 Miter Gauge

121 days ago by Don K. | 18 comments »

I know Schummie just did a review of this miter gauge yesterday….But I just got mine also…and thought I would tell you what I thought so far. First this is a great miter gauge that came out of the box DEAD on accurate. It was extremely easy to assemble and adjust to my saw. Second…other than saying how great it is and accurate it is (Which by the way I already said…lol) I figured I would show a few things. As you can see….it is extremely long even with ...

Wixey WR300 Digital Angle Gauge

Wixey WR300 Digital Angle Gauge

192 days ago by Emeralds | 27 comments »

The Wixey WR300 angle gauge is the perfect device for setting up a table saw, jointer table, bandsaw or any device that requires specific angle juxtaposition. Beyond setting your tool at a 90 degree angle, the WR300 allows you to get +/- 0.1º and for those in need of accurate angle cuts, this can only be a good thing. Aside from setting the tools themselves this little device takes all the guess work out of jig construction, drill press hole angles and anything requiring a precise, repeat...

Incra Miter 5000 - A tale of delight

Incra Miter 5000 - A tale of delight

218 days ago by WhittleMeThis | 4 comments »

Having used a cross cut sled and a standard miter guage for years, I thought I would upgrade my ability to make angled cuts on my table saw. As many, I struggled with angle cuts on my compound miter saw, for mouldering and general carpentry my miter saw did a great job but when it came to very precise miter joints my compound miter saw fell short. The compound miter saw always required a lot of fine tuning and test cuts and often with less precision than I would have liked. I spent some time...

Santa Brought Me A Landshark

Santa Brought Me A Landshark

Or, more accurately a "Shark Guard" by LeeWay Workshop. Installation I’ve only had the opportunity to install this today, so I haven’t really had a chance to fully put it through its paces. However, so far I am impressed. The improvised packaging the unit arrived in was demonstrative of its small shop origins; the actual contents, however, were not. Installation was straightforward using the directions provided on the site. They warned that some owners of my saw (Craftsman 2...
