Rockler Table saw fence micro adjuster

Rockler Table saw fence micro adjuster

07-16-2010 02:30 AM by lilredweldingrod | 17 comments »

I bought the Rockler table saw fence micro adjuster on sale cheap with free shipping. That takes most of the sting out. Every time the handle gets bumped, even slightly, it falls a part. After regluing this cheaply made junk several times, I drilled and install a 8-32 screw and nut and peened the end at the nut to prevent it from backing off. It hasn’t broken since, but I do not leave it on the saw except when I need it. Save your money on this one. I’m sure there ar much better d...

Infinity Zero Clearance Throat Plate and insert for sawstop table saw

Infinity Zero Clearance Throat Plate and insert for sawstop table saw

12-15-2012 03:10 AM by mbs | 17 comments »

The sawstop zero clearance insert doesn’t have enough support towards the back of the blade therefore the insert dips down below the top of the table. When cutting narrow wood, the leading edge of the wood catches on the top of the table which isn’t a safe situation to be in.. I recently heard about the Infinity billet insert and ordered it the same day. I don’t have any relationship with Infinity. The insert is machined out of aluminum and has a very nice anodized ...

Excellent once tuned

Excellent once tuned

Let me start by saying that I am very pleased with the results of this miter gauge. The cuts it produces are consistently great. I check them against a Mitatoyo machinist square and they are dead on. They are far, far more accurate and consistent then those produced by my Bosch slider. There are however some limitations and problems which I will explain in detail so my fellow LJs will know just what to expect. I bought the Incra 1000 SE about three months ago. The Incra 1000 SE comes...

Taper jig for us lazy folks

Taper jig for us lazy folks

Got this when I was in the Cambridge Rockler store. I had been thinking about making my own but this one is only $15 and I couldn’t pass. It works as designed, both sides of the fence. Some specs from the Rockler site: Cut tapers up to 3’’ per foot/15ยบ slope. Graduated metal scale makes it easy to cut tapers at desired angles. Easy to use and easy to adjust. Offers measurements in degrees and inches per foot of taper. I cut the the piece of red oak in the bottom of th...

Incra's 52inch LS positioner package!

Incra's 52inch LS positioner package!

One year ago I began the quest to make things from wood. I have learned so much in one year and I still have a long way to go. After a satisfying purchase of a Incra1000se miter gauge, I thought I couldn’t go wrong with this LS positioner plunge. I was right, this system cuts extremely accurate. That micro-adjust knob is excellent, you can move it by the thousands of an inch. You can truly move the fence with shear accuracy. The wonderfence did take a few extra steps to square up but it...

Incra LS - TS on ridgid 4512

Incra LS - TS on ridgid 4512

About a month ago I purchased a Ridgid 4512 to replace my dw744. Although this is not intended to be a review of the 4512, I will say that I am quite pleased with it. Once I had it assembled and set up I went through it carefully and set up the blade, fence and miter slots to all be parallel and was able to achieve great accuracy (within a few hundredths) without a lot of trouble. I have read about the issue many have had with the blade shifting position as it goes up and down, but I h...

Delta Heavy Duty Precision Miter Guage 36-946

Delta Heavy Duty Precision Miter Guage 36-946

I have only seen this miter guage on ebay – never in a store nor in a Delta catalogue. When you search the product number on the Delta website it only comes up as an accessory to their hybrid tablesaw. The ebayer who lists it sells one a week and I lowballed it for 2 years before I finally got it for $80, including shipping. In the last two weeks they have sold for less than my $50. What an improvement for my vintage unisaw! The design is excellent including an eccentric lock scr...

Rockler Thin Rip Tablesaw Jig

I know allot of you have made your own version of a thin strip ripping jig. I fiddled with making one and was in too much of a hurry to get my project going. I looked at this one online and liked the design and it was only $19.99 with free shipping. As usual Rockler shipped it out right away, and it was on my doorstep 4 days after I ordered it. They also accept Paypal now which is really convenient. It comes with simple instructions on the back of the box. The whole device is made out of pheno...

Leecraft Phenolic Insert GE-3

Leecraft Phenolic Insert GE-3

05-25-2009 04:27 PM by Chris | 16 comments »

Purchased this insert from Woodcraft in Jacksonville for a couple of reasons; first and foremost it was cost effective. Secondly, I have had little luck making my own from plywood or other such materials due to the fact that I can’t tweak the height (no leveling screws). The first pic shows the insert alongside the factory supplied insert from General. There is a screw on one end and one side to adjust the lateral fit and small hex screws at the four “corners” to adjust t...

Way Better Than Home Made Inserts

Way Better Than Home Made Inserts

12-06-2009 08:10 PM by Brad_Nailor | 16 comments »

I was going to do the usual cutting and fitting and fussing with making myself some ZCIs’ for my new Unisaw. Then I thought about exploring the world of commercially made inserts. there are allot to choose from. I was going to go with a system by Lee Valley/Veratris. It has very cool interchangeable plates and a single Alum. insert. But it was a little more than I wanted to pay ($79.00) for an insert. So I was at Woodcraft yesterday buying wheels, and I saw the Leecraft. It seemed reall...
