Why pay more?

I bought a new (used) craftsman belt drive table saw about a month ago and was amazed at the vibration. So, following the lead of all the LJ’s who love their link belts, I thought I’d give it a try. In comparing prices, I found two price points:- Harbor freight at $4 per foot, and- Everyone else at $8 per foot. Yankee that I am, guess which price point I chose? I adjusted the length and installed the belt in under 30 minutes last night (Note: I sized the belt to match th...

Magic Molder—A Safe and Professional Molder Head System

Magic Molder—A Safe and Professional Molder Head System

09-15-2014 03:46 AM by HillbillyShooter | 21 comments »

The Magic Molder System consists of a molder head and cutter plugs. Although not inexpensive, Magic Molder constitutes a truly safe and professional system for using your table saw (or radial arm saw if so inclined) as a shaper for cutting molding profiles. There are three primary features that make this system head and shoulders above the previous molder head I acquired 30 plus years ago—one I’ll humorously describe as a “cubby, Ninja star.” First, the Magic Molder is the safest des...

Osborne EB-3 Miter Gauge

Osborne EB-3 Miter Gauge

I know Schummie just did a review of this miter gauge yesterday….But I just got mine also…and thought I would tell you what I thought so far. First this is a great miter gauge that came out of the box DEAD on accurate. It was extremely easy to assemble and adjust to my saw. Second…other than saying how great it is and accurate it is (Which by the way I already said…lol) I figured I would show a few things. As you can see….it is extremely long even with ...

Laguna Professional Sliding Table

Laguna Professional Sliding Table

03-22-2011 06:55 AM by thamar | 20 comments »

As part of my shop upgrade, I decided to ditch my old “Mule” sliding table. I ordered the Laguna Professional Sliding Table. The website indicated that it would fit my Delta Unisaw and the person I talked to at Laguna said that some of their customers had mounted it on Unisaws. Once I received the sliding table, it just didn’t seem to me that it would fit my right tilt Unisaw. The right hand mounting bracket would have gotten in the way of the tilt wheel. The sliding...

Amazing improvement on my table saw

Amazing improvement on my table saw

05-02-2014 09:02 PM by jakep_82 | 20 comments »

I’ve already replaced the belts on most of my machines with link belts, but I never really felt like it was a huge improvement. After swapping the belts on my table saw I realize just how much difference they can make. I have a 15 year old Grizzly G1023 which has a triple 3L belt pulley. I bought the saw for a song on Craigslist because it had a blown motor, but I had no idea how it ran. After I got the motor fixed I found out it had a significant thump at startup, as well as some...

Incra - Customer Service

Incra - Customer Service

Just a quick review of Incra’s customer service – which I give a resounding 5 stars! I bought one of their table saw router table combo packages back in mid December & just got around to opening up the boxes. I am installing the fence system and router table on a new SawStop PCS that I just picked up this weekend. First of all, their ordering process and shipping were spot-on. Obviously, I should have opened up all of the packages when I received them, but I did not open u...

A great upgrade to a non-riving knife saw

A great upgrade to a non-riving knife saw

Product web page: www.leestyron.com I have wanted to order a Shark Guard from Lee for quite some time. One night this winter I went for it. At the time he said (on the webpage) the wait was about 3-4 weeks. I didn’t get a confirmation email (maybe it got filtered) and somewhere around two months later I got the shipping notice for the guard. I didn’t try to contact Lee myself so I’m not really complaining. The whole thing came in about two days from the shipping n...

SawStop Dust Collection Blade Guard & Over Arm Dust Collection

SawStop Dust Collection Blade Guard & Over Arm Dust Collection

Received this dust collection system for Christmas. Goes to show that momma pays attention when I send her hints. LOL! Anyway, installation is very easy and straight forward. The biggest issue, at least for the Contractor Saw is that the splitter & riving knife are slightly thicker with this upgrade. The old splitter/riving knife being .079 and the new one .090. This means you will need to readjust the riving knife lockdown clamp slightly so there isn’t to much pressure on the...

Review of the Ridgid Universal Digital Miter Gauge

Review of the Ridgid Universal Digital Miter Gauge

10-12-2011 09:07 AM by David Grimes | 19 comments »

This is the Ridgid Universal Digital Miter Gauge. Lets start with the Universal part. The miter slot bar has a clever lobed t-slot washer that quickly adjusts and locks to the width of any t-slot lower trough. If your miter track is just plain square, then it rotates and locks in flush. They even threw in an extra bar for the non-standard undersized slots that are used on many table top machines. I believe it is truly universal and well-designed. The head unit attaches to a fairly be...

Accuracy is Art

Accuracy is Art

Greetings from West Virginia. I’m new here but I have been dying to tell someone about my new toy. I just got the Osborne EB3 Miter Gauge for Christmas and its great! I have a Grizzly G0576 left tilt table saw and the stock miter gauge was ok for rough cuts but it just was not accurate enough in my judgement. Even though I adjusted the guide bar, it still would move slightly in the slot. The angles were difficult to set and I had to look for my protractor to double and triple check...
