A great upgrade to a non-riving knife saw

A great upgrade to a non-riving knife saw

Product web page: www.leestyron.com I have wanted to order a Shark Guard from Lee for quite some time. One night this winter I went for it. At the time he said (on the webpage) the wait was about 3-4 weeks. I didn’t get a confirmation email (maybe it got filtered) and somewhere around two months later I got the shipping notice for the guard. I didn’t try to contact Lee myself so I’m not really complaining. The whole thing came in about two days from the shipping n...

Review of the Ridgid Universal Digital Miter Gauge

Review of the Ridgid Universal Digital Miter Gauge

This is the Ridgid Universal Digital Miter Gauge. Lets start with the Universal part. The miter slot bar has a clever lobed t-slot washer that quickly adjusts and locks to the width of any t-slot lower trough. If your miter track is just plain square, then it rotates and locks in flush. They even threw in an extra bar for the non-standard undersized slots that are used on many table top machines. I believe it is truly universal and well-designed. The head unit attaches to a fairly be...

Accuracy is Art

Accuracy is Art

Greetings from West Virginia. I’m new here but I have been dying to tell someone about my new toy. I just got the Osborne EB3 Miter Gauge for Christmas and its great! I have a Grizzly G0576 left tilt table saw and the stock miter gauge was ok for rough cuts but it just was not accurate enough in my judgement. Even though I adjusted the guide bar, it still would move slightly in the slot. The angles were difficult to set and I had to look for my protractor to double and triple check...

Incra TS-LS Table Saw Fence

Incra TS-LS Table Saw Fence

220 days ago by Slimey243 | 18 comments »

I see that the last review was posted around 3 years ago. I bought this item several weeks ago and couldn’t be more pleased with it. What the other 3 people said about it is still true today! I am totally amazed how accurate this system is when making my cuts. I just wish I would have been able to afford the router table combo!

Tablesaw Essentials.

Tablesaw Essentials.

Well you could get by without them. $15 a pair from Rockler. What the heck are they? They hold aux. fences and stopblocks to your existing rip fence, for crosscutting and dado operations where the blade would otherwise obliterate your existing fence. Just rip a piece of ply, melamine, or other stable stock, drill two holes for the clamps, and clamp away. The biesemeyer aux. fences with clamps are around $150. The only advantage I see is that their fence is exactly 1” thic...

Rock solid Rockler tenoning jig

Rock solid Rockler tenoning jig

1889 days ago by GusRod | 18 comments »

I’ve used shop made wood and metal tenoning jigs before but this one far exceeded my expectations. The tool is as hefty as they come but glides along the miter slot as if it was on a cushion of air. It’s clamp is strong enough to easily hold three foot 4×4’s for a blacksmith workbench I made recently and it’s various adjustments make it ideal for accurate cuts on cabinet and furniture work. I highly recommend this tool and at around sixty five dollars it is well w...

The best table saw (and shop) accessory I have ever owned

The best table saw (and shop) accessory I have ever owned

At the first woodworking show I attended years ago I became aware of the Incra table saw fence systems, and bought their first version almost 10 years ago. I upgraded to their LS system (lead-screw) about 4 years ago by purchasing a new postioner w/machined fence, which is even easier to use. What the Incra fence does is allow for precise and repeatable fence alignment on your table saw: > Precision – allows adjustments as fine as .001”, though their standard measuring meth...

Micro Jig SteelPro Splitter - for 1/8" Kerf Blades

Micro Jig SteelPro Splitter - for 1/8" Kerf Blades

You can purchase this product from Incra for about $35. I was interested in getting a splitter that I would use, as my rip guard/splitter was a pain to install every time I wanted to rip something. It comes as a kit, with an installation jig, and several splitters of various widths. The instruction sheet was fairly easy to follow. You need a couple pieces of 1/2 inch stock, one for the jig to attach to, and one as a test piece. They have you drill the holes in your saw insert with the prov...

Rockler Table saw fence micro adjuster

Rockler Table saw fence micro adjuster

I bought the Rockler table saw fence micro adjuster on sale cheap with free shipping. That takes most of the sting out. Every time the handle gets bumped, even slightly, it falls a part. After regluing this cheaply made junk several times, I drilled and install a 8-32 screw and nut and peened the end at the nut to prevent it from backing off. It hasn’t broken since, but I do not leave it on the saw except when I need it. Save your money on this one. I’m sure there ar much better d...

SawStop Dust Collection Blade Guard & Over Arm Dust Collection

SawStop Dust Collection Blade Guard & Over Arm Dust Collection

873 days ago by Darell | 17 comments »

Received this dust collection system for Christmas. Goes to show that momma pays attention when I send her hints. LOL! Anyway, installation is very easy and straight forward. The biggest issue, at least for the Contractor Saw is that the splitter & riving knife are slightly thicker with this upgrade. The old splitter/riving knife being .079 and the new one .090. This means you will need to readjust the riving knife lockdown clamp slightly so there isn’t to much pressure on the...
