Trojan Sawhorses, Tough and sturdy

Trojan Sawhorses, Tough and sturdy

I do some subcontract for the US Navy building shipping crates for Aircraft Carrier Flight-deck equipment.Since I do the work on-site I needed some collapsible or folding sawhorses.I bought a couple of the yellow painted steel sawhorses from Home depot, but they moved too much when working on heavier crates (over 500 pounds).I ended up with some made by Toughbuilt which were better, but after a while they loosened up. And since they were made of steel I was always concerned about cutting or d...

Works well with some limitations

After Dylan's review of this item as a Rockler sale item ($35 at the moment), I decided to pick one up b/c I thought I was close to buying a jointer off of Cralgslist. The Good:1) Pretty straightforward assembly and adjustability2) Rolls easily3) roll/stationary lever is pretty easy to use and definitely better than the Harborfreight style where one has to screw down the stationary supports when you don’t want it to roll. 4) Everything to assemble it is included The Not So Good:1...

This base should not have passed final QC

This base should not have passed final QC

Unit arrived in a box way larger than the base allowing it to slide around. No shipping foam or cardboard whatsoever allowed the wheels and hardware to break through the box. Upon opening the box, my unit had a lot of paint runs and dust embedded in the spray paint. I call it spray paint because mine was not powder coated and painted with what appears to be a spray paint can. There were numerous scratches everywhere on the frame as well as a bunch of exposed bare metal that missed painting al...

I had purchased a loma base for my 8” jointer and it’s the best base I have. I would like to get additional bases for the rest of my tool but it seems like LOMA TOOLS is no more. Does anyone have any info on the company?

A highly economical yet industrial strength mobile base

A highly economical yet industrial strength mobile base

After refurbishing my 8” GeeTech jointer, I needed a small footprint mobile base in my 2 car garage setting. While Oliver Machinery and their sister company Loma Tools (old Sunhill company) helped me with the GeeTech jointer parts, I saw some nice mobile bases on their webpage. I ordered one, it arrived this weekend, a 5 year old can put it together without instructions and now my jointer has a nice new home from the makeshift temporary base it was sitting on. This is made is Taiwan....

Don't buy

Don't buy

Bought this stand the other day. Get it home take it out of the box, simple to setup. Can’t get the thing to be level when tightening the screws. The pipe shifts because it’s to small for the casting, the top base sits all wonky only has one screw to mount . Taking back, bought a Sears stand for less and works fine.

Great Table even better customer service!!!

Great Table even better customer service!!!

A couple weeks ago, I ordered a Kreg Mobile Project Center on the internet. When it arrived, I opened it to find that it had been damaged due to it being assembled incorrectly. I called Kreg customer support and after a brief explanation of what had happened, they had a new table on its way to me. When the second table arrived, I noticed that it had been damaged during shipping. I sent an email to Kreg customer support explaining what had happened and what I thought the cause of it was. A few...

Not a HF Gem - But Adequate

Not a HF Gem - But Adequate

I recently moved and had to leave behind three of my homemade rolling stands that previously housed my drill press, oscillating belt/spindle sander, and DW735 planer. Rather than building my own again, I decided to take a shot on a HF stand. It came out to around $20 after a 20% off coupon. The stand is actually fairly sturdy, even with the pressboard top and relatively thin steel legs and braces. It has no problem securely holding my ~90lb DW735. However, it is an absolute pain to assembl...

Good Foot Controls and Rolling Action

Good Foot Controls and Rolling Action

07-07-2017 05:10 PM by pintodeluxe | 5 comments »

I have had many different brands and types of mobile bases, everything from a Sawstop ICS base (the best one made) to Delta / Rockler corner kits, to the HTC-2000, and Portamate. The Portamate-2500 construction impressed me with its reasonably sturdy steel frame and corner brackets. The steel is a heavy gauge, and does not feel flimsy. The foot levers are steel and plenty heavy to do the job. I think I can lift my bandsaw with one toe. I would describe the lifting and rolling actions a...
