My wife is an air brush artist (sort of) anyway I should probably not go there. Just kidding she is pretty good for time she has been doing it. When looking for supplies which is difficult on the east cost she came upon this TCP Global site They sell from like 8 web sites they own. Moving on here. I need a spray system that I can Paint the eves of the house, Paint my Adirondack chairs that I sell, I have 8 lover doors to paint and I want to be able to spray shellac at some point. I had to spray some General Finshes Enduro-Var water base poly. Not really poly as it is water based. After thining with about 15 percent water and a couple healthy squirts of General Finishes dry time extender I got the results I needed. A smooth flat top coat. After drying I used Micro-mesh sanding pads. 1500 to 12000 grit.I still need to get some 1 micron polish from Micro-mesh to get that extra eye popping mirror like finish.29 gal Harbor Freight commpressor 7.3 cfm at 40 psi and 5.9 at 9...

Fantastic starter HVLP set, but choose your finish wisely

Fantastic starter HVLP set, but choose your finish wisely

When my wife asked me to upcycle a dresser for our daughter, I told her that I needed a new tool to get it done. After doing my research and agonizing if I wanted to get the Earlex Spray Station 5500 as my first HVLP or go for the HF/Rockler HVLP. I eventually settled on this one, figuring I can learn from the experience and go for a 3 or 4 stage after I finally wear it out. I’ve had and used the unit for almost a year now. The HVLP comes with 3 tips, that at best I can figure is ...

User friendly, entry level spray system

User friendly, entry level spray system

Let me start out by saying that I am a complete newbie when it comes to spraying finishes, and to finishing in general. I have never used any type of spray system before purchasing the Earlex, but after finishing projects by hand for a while I was looking for a faster and easier solution. The Earlex 5500 has met my needs and I’ve been happy with it. The unit itself seems to be very well constructed, the turbine housing is fairly rugged, enough so that I get the impression that if i...

Earlex 5500 great for hobbyist or semi-pro

Earlex 5500 great for hobbyist or semi-pro

I definitely recommend the Earlex 5500. It’s a great sprayer. So far, I’ve used it to spray both shellac and polyurethane and it did a good job on both. I bought it so I could spray shellac on my latest project, but it was so easy to use that I also sprayed my polyurethane top coat with it. Cleanup is really easy, especially with the Teflon lined cup. One of my favorite features is the secure storage for the gun on the unit. I don’t have to look around for a good place to set the gun an...

Easy to use HVLP with great results

Easy to use HVLP with great results

I haven’t had had a chance to use this product to its full potential yet but the the projects I have used it on so far have turned out great. I attached a couple of pics of my most resent project I used it on. The time it saved me was amazing. This is my first time owning a HVLP system and I’m VERY pleased. Prior to this I ether did everything by hand or used my compressor / spray gun. I am much happier with the results. You can find the system normally on sale for around $300. We...

OK let me the first to say that I am new here don’t have many posts and I am new to spraying with the HVLP. With that said I had a big piece of furniture that I needed to finish and decided to get my first sprayer. I did some extensive research on what to get and after reading the reviews I was pretty set on the Earlex Spray Station. I ordered it online from Amazon and it came in and I was excited to get started. I also ordered the 1.5mm needle as well. So I open the box and start...

Just don't know

Just don't know

I got this gun for the low price of $17.99. I have no real experience with HVLP so I really don’t know wether it is any good or not. I use this with my small pancake compressor and it seems like the compressor just can’t keep up. I really want to get into HVLP but I would rather not spend 500 dollars for a top of the line system if I don’t have to. If any one has any comments I’m all ears

My New Rockler HVLP Spray System

My New Rockler HVLP Spray System

04-03-2012 10:36 PM by Jorge Velez | 5 comments »

It’s been about 6 wks since I purchase this Rockler Spray System I’m very happy with the performance of this product. I own a small compressor and I had been using this for quite some time but I was kind of annoying with the level of noise and the fact that is not as portable as I wanted to be, this Spray system is fully portable and bit less noisy, however I had made an plywood enclosure and reduce the noise. I dont have a way to measure the noise levels but certainly is lower...
