WS3000 Wide Blade Attachment - Fixed!

WS3000 Wide Blade Attachment - Fixed!

I recently picked up a WorkSharp 3000 after trying my hand at tuning some bevel-up Veritas 3/16” thick A2 steel plane blades. The instructions say to attach the wide blade guide, leveling it with the sharpening sandpaper. Unfortunately, it won’t go down that far, because the inside of some of the supports squeeze against a raised piece of the machine. Sooo… I got out my Dremel and a carborundum cutting wheel and trimmed them back. I’ve attached a picture showing where ...

Norton Waterstone set IM83 in box

Norton Waterstone set IM83 in box

This is just a quick review of the Norton waterstone set in a carrying case.I only purchased this set after a lot of deliberation and bargain hunting. I paid £230 for the set, after first checking the price of all the stones individually, including the flattening stone. It worked out that I was only paying £20 for the box and free DVD that comes with it. I think that having the box is worth it just to keep the stones out of harms way and ready to go. Upon receipt of the kit I first watched ...

A bit on the pricey side, but extremely well made, and solves a huge problem.

A few months ago, I added Norton white oxide wheels to my 8” grinder that I use for sharpening only to be rewarded with a grinder that tried dancing across the shop… The pitiful bushings that Norton includes with their grinder wheels, well… Norton should be ashamed of themselves for including them. These things are a waste of money for Norton to include, and a waste of shipping space. SHAME ON YOUR NORTON!!!! These things have TONS of slop in them, and allow the wheel to ...

I won’t go into extensive review on this tool as JC did an extended video review of the WS2000 here. It came with 80 and 220 grit slotted discs which are good for medium duty grinding. I tried using the 80 grit solid wheel with the tool guide (coming up from underneath) and although it gave an accurate angle, it was more like grinding with 40 grit. Going to 220, it couldn’t get the grind marks out of the face of the bevel. I eneded up with a polished face with circular marks in...

I received tonight my new wet sharpener. I have been working with it for about one hour and it is working extremely well for me. I sharpened chisels, and planes blades and kitchen knives.I read on another forum that all the Tormek accessories mount right on this sharpener.

Deulen Planer Sharpener

Deulen Planer Sharpener

Due to the length of planer knives you need to purchase two of the above knife holders to properly hold and sharpen planer knives. I have only used them once and they worked very well and quickly put a very sharp edge on my knives. I purchased the knife holders on EBay. The item number is 250557952917. Dan Deulen is the inventor/manufacturer of the holders and he can be contacted at telephone number 360-601-1744 or at 11311 NE Stutz Road, Vancouver, WA 98685. It is my opinion that he is...

So I just got the WS3000 this weekend and had a chance to play around with it. This thing is amazing, I have been rehoning all my chisels and plane irons less than 2” in assembly line fashion (all backs at 120 grit, then bevels, then all backs at 400 grit, then bevels, and so on). This thing is amazing, super easy to use, and very quick compared to the manual Scary Sharp method. Now onto the wide blade attachment that I purchased for my 2 3/8” plane iron at $69.99 The angl...

Cammel Saw Co.

Just a quick review of a service company. They also sell lots of blades and knives for just about anything I believe. I just bought a used grizzly Jointer and the knives had several small nicks in them. I looked around the internet and couldn’t find anyone who could sharpen them for a good price (in my opinion). Finally I found this company and shot them an email. They emailed me back promptly and let me know that it would be about $18 to sharpen them, which compared to $45 at other pla...
