WEN 3920 scroll saw

WEN 3920 scroll saw

I would like to start out with I have no experiences with scroll saws so I admit I have no knowledge of using other scroll saws.. I bought and have fallen in love with this saw. I dont have a lot of small curvy work to do until recently. Until then my 14 inch Grizzly bandsaw did whatever I needed. I needed to make a lot of INSIDE cuts for a project. This saw came, took me a few minutes to set up. No mess no fuss! POW I am cutting…. It is very well BALANCED! When I bought ...

Delta Q3 40-650

Delta Q3 40-650

For comparison, I own the Delta Q3 40-650 and an RBI Hawk 220-3, both great saws. The Hawk is a 3 speed saw (via belt pulley change) featuring parallel arms, and aluminum construction. The Delta Q3/40-650 is a variable speed saw leveraging a graphite C arm on a 90 pound chassis. The Delta has minimal vibration, likely the result of the low moving mass of the C arm coupled with the heavy chassis. The cutting speed is fast and “buttery” due to the non parallel C arm design....

Scroll saw comfort knobs

Scroll saw comfort knobs

06-13-2017 01:29 AM by Woodmaster1 | 8 comments »

I ordered the comfort knobs after seeing them in some YouTube videos. They are everything you would want in an add on accessory. It took less than ten minutes to trim the original knobs to make them fit. They are very easy on the fingers compared to the stock knobs. Every bit a five star product.

Dremel 1830-01 Scroll Station

Dremel 1830-01 Scroll Station

I have one of these and I really like it. I had a problem with vibration but I solved that by mounting it on a 5/8 thick piece of plywood and then bolting down on a stand made for this scroll saw. I have only one complaint with this scroll saw and every other brand I have ever owned and that is lubricating the bearings. I wish there was a simpler way to do this. Manual says lay it on its side and oil the bearings let soak 24 hrs. flip it over and do the same on the other side. Other than that...

Hand-operated scroll saw AKA fret saw

Hand-operated scroll saw AKA fret saw

02-18-2016 10:10 PM by Dutchy | 15 comments »

This is my first review contribution. Today I bought a well known brand hand operated scroll saw at the local hardware store for only Euro 6.50, with a full year warranty. It was cheap but despite this it has some nice benefits That’s why I want to share it with you. This saw is very environmentally friendly. It is usable in country’s with 230 volt but also in country’s where 110 Volt is used. It’s light weight but with sufficient strength. Saw blade change is easy to do without additional t...

Horrible quality, not what I expected from Porter Cable

Horrible quality, not what I expected from Porter Cable

I am honestly trying to be fair with this review, but I am extremely frustrated with this scroll saw. In the past I have been a happy owner of many Porter Cable products. At this point I am reluctant to buy any more. About a year ago my wife started to enjoy using the old clunky scroll saw we had to make kids puzzles. She got pretty good at it and now does it as a small side business. Each week she spends about 8-10 hours creating puzzles on the scroll saw for sale at our local farmers ...

10 years and still going

10 years and still going

I am a shop teacher at a middle school in Abbotsford BC. We purchased 8 of these Dewalt scroll saws 10 years ago and have have only had to replace 1 of them (the motor went after 9 years). One more saw is making some funny sounds in its upper arm and will most likely be done soon (I will take the motor and place it in my other saw). The saws get used by grade 6-8 students cutting from 3/4” alder to 1 and 3/4” basswood. I must say that my students are not easy on the saws and I hav...

Big Foot Scroll Saw Lift Arm

Big Foot Scroll Saw Lift Arm

07-15-2013 07:18 PM by jerrells | 15 comments »

I received my Big Foot scroll saw lift arm today and installed it in under three minutes. You will need a Torx T-35 tool to get the existing bolts out. Also be sure to watch the installation video to get the parts in the right order. With as much scrolling as I do this will be a very useful add-on to save time and frustration when changing blades or putting the blade through a hole in the center of a large piece of work. Very easy to use; just lift the scroll saw arm and it will lock in pl...

Video Review of my Excalibur Ex-21

Video Review of my Excalibur Ex-21

07-02-2013 12:32 AM by TripleB | 6 comments »

Hey Lumberjocks, After using a $10.00 scroll saw that I bought off of Craigslist for a couple years, I decided it was time to break out the bucks and upgraded to an Ex-21 saw. That was a year ago, now that I have the technology to make boring videos I figured I should do a review of it since that seems to be the thing to do when you make videos. So here is my less than spectacular video review of my EX-21. And just in case your wondering, just try and take my EX from me, I dare ya!!lol
