This blade is great for cutting box joints and dados. I prefer the 1/4 inch cut, the 3/8 inch is seems not as controlled (it is) but I still stick to 1/4. I tried this in a crosscut and a rip cut, both cuts were excellent. I was just too lazy to change my blade for 4 cuts. I believe that for the price $65 at Amazon it is the best bargain out there.A purist would probably use this set for dados or box joint cutting only, but I a true woodklutz ripped 24” that was as good as you could...

Very good ripping (and crosscutting!) blade

Very good ripping (and crosscutting!) blade

Last week I received this saw blade from Rockler. This is my first “professional” blade, until now just used the blades that came with the machines I bought or some cheap blades I could get a local stores. In my last proyect I realized 2 things (using the dewalt blade that came with the saw) 1.- Big quantity of wood consumed by each cut2.- The finish was VERY poor I couldn’t glue the faces without sanding… The things that made me choose this blade: 1.- ...

4 1/2" Blade for PC 314 Trim Saw

4 1/2" Blade for PC 314 Trim Saw

Recently I needed a new blade for my 314 trim saw to cut 1/2 and 3/4 Birch Ply. I did some research and all of my sources implied that I should look for a thin kerf blade. Having tried many top rated blades from manufactures you all know and love I choose the Tenryu PT-11536 4-1/2” Carbide Tipped Saw Blade ( 36 Tooth ATAF Grind – 3/8” Arbor. Power Tool Blade The manufacturer claimed that the blade was “For clean and easy trim work on the Porter Cable trim saw...

When I ordered this blade I wasn’t sure what to expect, other than it being better then the general, all-purpose blade I was using to cut some hard maple on my tablesaw. This was one of the lower priced blades from Rockler wen I was looking at Rip blades and easier to justify to my wife that I needed this blade. I just got the blade today and it worked great! To give you a little background, I have a Craftsman tablesaw that I upgraded with the V poly belt. Nothing special about it, ...

Forrest Woodworker II 10" 48 Tooth Thin Kerf

Forrest Woodworker II 10" 48 Tooth Thin Kerf

When I bought my saw stop this weekend Woodcraft hooked me up with this blade for only $40. They took the SKU from another blade rang it in and gave me the Forrest Woodworker II 10” 48 Tooth Thin Kerf. I have been wanting to try one of these out for a while, the first thing I noticed like others is the weight of the blade. It is not pretty but very well constructed. With that said I will get to the point of this review. I don’t think this blade is anything special. I don’...

DEWALT 12 In. 96T Ultra-Smooth Crosscutting Thin Curf Saw Blade

DEWALT 12 In. 96T Ultra-Smooth Crosscutting Thin Curf Saw Blade

I was looking around for a new blade for my DW718 SCMS and I was wondering around Lowes and spotted this beaut. So I took it home and put it to the test. The first thing I noticed was how quiet it was when cutting through the wood. It leaves an incredibly smooth and clean cut. It cut perfect miters on hard maple in the first pass. It says it cuts nonferrous metals so I cut some copper tubing and it made a nice smooth cut leaving little tear out but you better wear eye protection. Then ...

Aftermarket Fein blades

Aftermarket Fein blades

Imperial Blades I’ve had my Fein Multimaster for about two years now and it has been the tool that gets occasional use but was invaluable when it was either the only way to do something or made it so much easier to do a cut. BUT the blades were so expensive and didn’t seem to last as long as they cost. So looking for a cheaper alternative to the blades I did a little surfing and found Imperial Blades which have just been picked up by Woodcraft. They weren’t at the loca...

Forrest Woodworker II saw blade

Forrest Woodworker II saw blade

I have been looking at this blade for some time. I have 6-7 decent blades for 24 teeth to 60 tooth but they all seem to gum up while cutting various 8/4 lumber. I cut alot of Purple Heart, Walnut, Maple, Cherry and Paduuk for cutting boards. I’m constantly cleaning the blades. I even spray them with dry Teflon to boot but the gum up quickly. Sunday after a long workweek was over, with a little too much overtime for my taste I was reading Rockler sales paper. I had Monday off and Blo...

Smooth, Thin Cuts

Smooth, Thin Cuts

1300 days ago by tnstaafl | 7 comments »

I just installed this Micro-Kerf 40 blade from Total Saw Solutions on my SawStop Contractor’s Saw, and I must say I’m impressed. Smooth, glue-ready cuts, with a kerf as thin as a dime. The blade comes with stabilizer discs built in, starts and runs with no blade noise. It went through a bunch of 4/4 oak very easily, which stands to reason since the kerf is so thin. The stabilizer discs do limit the depth of cut a little, but for precision cutting of quality hardwoods – I l...

WOW, what can I say. This is another pleasant surprise from Freud. In my search for a super thin kerf saw blade under 20. The Demo demon @ $15.00 although not designed for table saw and ripping gets my 5 star.Gives extremely clean cut with not too slow but steady feed rate and at 1/16 kerf, No waste and oh my, almost no dust. You can see the cut is practically glue ready.Since this is 7 ¼ blade and super thin, I don’t recommend using it on any stock thicker than 3/4 It may deflect but you do g...
