WOW, what can I say. This is another pleasant surprise from Freud. In my search for a super thin kerf saw blade under 20. The Demo demon @ $15.00 although not designed for table saw and ripping gets my 5 star.Gives extremely clean cut with not too slow but steady feed rate and at 1/16 kerf, No waste and oh my, almost no dust. You can see the cut is practically glue ready.Since this is 7 ¼ blade and super thin, I don’t recommend using it on any stock thicker than 3/4 It may deflect but you do g...

Clean flat bottom cuts

Clean flat bottom cuts

370 days ago by twc | 8 comments »

I am always looking for new more efficient ways to complete my projects. Lately I have been doing a lot of shaker style doors with stub-tenon and groove joinery. That’s where this blade comes in. It makes super clean cuts with perfectly flat bottoms. On their website it is shown cutting tenon shoulders in a single pass. I have not done anything bigger then a stub tenon but I think it would excel at larger tenons as well. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that likes to c...

Forrest WoodworkerII 10" 40 T Thin Kerf Saw Blade

Forrest WoodworkerII 10" 40 T Thin Kerf Saw Blade

2226 days ago by Brad_Nailor | 10 comments »

This being my first Forrest blade I wanted to see if they lived up to the hype. I did some research and decided I wanted to go with a thin kerf basically because I was going to be cutting allot of hard maple and my Bosch table saw isn’t the most powerful, and I wanted to try and save material. I decided on this blade and the Forrest website recommended a stiffener. I shopped around and found a great deal on Forrestsawbladesonline.com I got the 10”, 5/8” arbor blade and the 5...

Glue Line Rip !

Glue Line Rip !

When Freud claims that this blade will give you flawless rips and glue joints, they are not boasting.I purchased this blade few months back but never got around using it until this week when I got tired cleaning the mess my jointer was making.Long story short, this put my jointer to shame. The cut is so smooth; you may have to scuff it up a bit before gluing.Well, I’m not the least bit surprised, Freud makes some of the longest lasting and sharpest router bits and saw blades around. it&...

The Craftex Blue Tornado Dado Set........... a cut above the rest.

The Craftex Blue Tornado Dado Set........... a cut above the rest.

The Craftex Blue Tornado Dado Set (CBT017) 8”X24 Cutting dadoes and rabbets in sheet material such as veneer coated plywood or particleboard or melamine coated particleboard is a routine procedure in woodworking. What isn’t so routine is cutting splinter free dadoes and rabbets in this type of material but now that’s a thing of the past with the Craftex Blue Tornado 8” CBTO17 dado set. The Craftex Blue Tornado line of saw blades, router bits and shaper cutters is exclusive to Busy ...

DEWALT 12 In. 96T Ultra-Smooth Crosscutting Thin Curf Saw Blade

DEWALT 12 In. 96T Ultra-Smooth Crosscutting Thin Curf Saw Blade

I was looking around for a new blade for my DW718 SCMS and I was wondering around Lowes and spotted this beaut. So I took it home and put it to the test. The first thing I noticed was how quiet it was when cutting through the wood. It leaves an incredibly smooth and clean cut. It cut perfect miters on hard maple in the first pass. It says it cuts nonferrous metals so I cut some copper tubing and it made a nice smooth cut leaving little tear out but you better wear eye protection. Then ...

Porter-Cable Razor - 10" TS Blade

Porter-Cable Razor - 10" TS Blade

2369 days ago by Jeff | 13 comments »

NOTE: the model number for the TS blade is 100VT50 Just as stated in the review for the circular saw blade, this is a great blade. I went to my local supplier for a thin-kerf Woodworker II but they were out. The guy I usually talk to told me I should give it a try. He makes picture frames for his father (an artist) on the side and swears by the miters you can get with it. He gave me a personal guarantee that if I didn’t like it after 30 days. He would take it back. No questions asked...

A good starter Dado Set

A good starter Dado Set

2350 days ago by IowaWoodcrafter | 4 comments »

Having never used another dado set I am unable to make any comparisons. I recently built a mission style bed that required the use of a stacked dado blade set. Being on a tight budget after buying all the quarter sawn white oak I went looking for an inexpensive set. I decided early on that I didn’t want to try my luck with a wobble blade or something from a low cost tool store. I looked online at several of the well known woodworking stores but couldn’t justify the cost of...
