A great deal

A great deal

I’ve been using this blade for a few months now. It’s lived in my miter saw most of that time and I just tried it out on the table saw for rip cuts. I’ve been very pleased with this blade, overall. The titanium nitride coating does seem to reduce friction and give a somewhat cleaner cut. The blade is nice and sharp out of the box. It cut more easily and cleanly the Kobalt blades I had been using in the miter saw. And the rip cuts it did were good too. The saw didn&#...

Harbor Freight Dado set

Harbor Freight Dado set

256 days ago by MrRon | 40 comments »

I’m certain the purists will condemn me for using the name “Harbor Freight” in connection with woodworking tools, but like it or not, here it is. I don’t use a dado blade very often, so I couldn’t justify $200+ sets like those from Forrest. But when I do need one, I went with the cheapest set I could find. The HF set is 8” and cuts dados up to 7/8”. The teeth are C2 carbide and number 22 teeth. I was impressed by the size of the carbide. They look lik...

Forrest Woodworker II 10" 48 Tooth Thin Kerf

Forrest Woodworker II 10" 48 Tooth Thin Kerf

When I bought my saw stop this weekend Woodcraft hooked me up with this blade for only $40. They took the SKU from another blade rang it in and gave me the Forrest Woodworker II 10” 48 Tooth Thin Kerf. I have been wanting to try one of these out for a while, the first thing I noticed like others is the weight of the blade. It is not pretty but very well constructed. With that said I will get to the point of this review. I don’t think this blade is anything special. I don’...

Glue Line Rip !

Glue Line Rip !

When Freud claims that this blade will give you flawless rips and glue joints, they are not boasting.I purchased this blade few months back but never got around using it until this week when I got tired cleaning the mess my jointer was making.Long story short, this put my jointer to shame. The cut is so smooth; you may have to scuff it up a bit before gluing.Well, I’m not the least bit surprised, Freud makes some of the longest lasting and sharpest router bits and saw blades around. it&...

Excellent budget blade!

Excellent budget blade!

I just recently bought this blade after reading some of the reviews on the home depot website. I am very satisfied with it and think its an excellent choice for someone on a budget wanting a nice cutting blade. I havent used any of the high end blades such as the forrest woodworker2 but i would be mighty surprised if they cut that much better then this blade does. I tried it on red oak, pine, douglas fir, MDF, and particle board melamine and it left a super smooth cut in all of them with no t...

Oshlun 8" stacked dado review

Oshlun 8" stacked dado review

Let me preface this review with the only other dado i have used was a very old sears “wobble” dado that i used once and refused to put back on my saw. I bought this last week as rockler had it on sale for 59$ and all the reviews I saw of the 6” set said it was a good buy. Its a stacked set with full blade chippers which i like better than the wing chippers. I used it on a scrap piece of pine and had no tear out and flat bottoms. The cutter blades are made so that they pu...

Very good ripping (and crosscutting!) blade

Very good ripping (and crosscutting!) blade

Last week I received this saw blade from Rockler. This is my first “professional” blade, until now just used the blades that came with the machines I bought or some cheap blades I could get a local stores. In my last proyect I realized 2 things (using the dewalt blade that came with the saw) 1.- Big quantity of wood consumed by each cut2.- The finish was VERY poor I couldn’t glue the faces without sanding… The things that made me choose this blade: 1.- ...

Another Screaming Bargain of a Saw Blade

Another Screaming Bargain of a Saw Blade

This review is as much a deal alert as it is a testimonial. This deal has been on Ebay for several weeks now from Cripe Distribution, and I’m amazed people haven’t scarfed these up like free champagne. If you’re not familiar with it, the Delta 35-7657 was originally the DeWalt DW7657 40T ATB general purpose blade….the same blade that Wood Mag rated favorably against the Forrest WWII a few years back when it was considered a good bargain at $50. It appears to be the sa...

Wow, wish I would have bought one sooner.

Wow, wish I would have bought one sooner.

I finally broke down and purchased a drum sander while Jet was having a 15% off sale. After reading the reviews here and elsewhere I decided to go with the 16-32. I had zero issues with tracking on the belt and leveling the drum was pretty straight forward. I spent about 2 hours setting it up and testing it out. I added a set of locking casters to make it mobile. I usually spend a couple of hours leveling a glue up by hand when making cutting boards. This sander has saved me around 8hrs o...
