Glue Line Rip !

Glue Line Rip !

When Freud claims that this blade will give you flawless rips and glue joints, they are not boasting.I purchased this blade few months back but never got around using it until this week when I got tired cleaning the mess my jointer was making.Long story short, this put my jointer to shame. The cut is so smooth; you may have to scuff it up a bit before gluing.Well, I’m not the least bit surprised, Freud makes some of the longest lasting and sharpest router bits and saw blades around. it&...

Excellent budget blade!

Excellent budget blade!

52 days ago by Mike Gager | 23 comments »

I just recently bought this blade after reading some of the reviews on the home depot website. I am very satisfied with it and think its an excellent choice for someone on a budget wanting a nice cutting blade. I havent used any of the high end blades such as the forrest woodworker2 but i would be mighty surprised if they cut that much better then this blade does. I tried it on red oak, pine, douglas fir, MDF, and particle board melamine and it left a super smooth cut in all of them with no t...

CMT 8" Dado Set

CMT 8" Dado Set

436 days ago by RWR | 17 comments »

I purchased this dado set to help build a free standing router station. Had to make many dado’s and rabbets. I knew my old Sear’s steel set was not up to the task, especially on expensive cabinet grade birch plywood. So after reviewing several sets and finding this set on sale at Amazon it was a no brainer forme. This set gives very flat bottoms and zero chipout on the 3/4” and 1/2” plywood that I was using. It alsohas the 1/16” and 3/32” chippers to co...

THIS BLADE IS A WINNER

Well, at the Seattle Woodworking show ..I watched them slowly push the Forrest blade thru the wood and no burn marks…..I was fascinated …I even came back the next day and watched again ….I finally bought a Chopmaster online from Forrest for my Radial arm saw …I received it and it sat on the saw table for 2 weeks as i was in the middle of other things …I finally installed it on my Craftsman Radial Arm saw and at the first cut ..I was amazed . Yes …oh man &#...

It's worth it.

It's worth it.

Over the last decade or so that I’ve owned my Craftsman contractor’s saw, I’ve come to demand the utmost, penultimate level of mediocrity from it while telling myself that the jump from this saw to the Powermatic 66 is sort of like jumping from my $500 Remington 1100 shotgun to a $3000 custom Baretta over-under: the object is to break clay birds, right? And both throw a lot of lead in the air, which is all that counts, right? And yet, I’ve learned to tune my table sa...

You get what you pay for?....Maybe less

You get what you pay for?....Maybe less

I purchased these early this year. My decision was based on somewhat good reviews and mostly price. Based on the amount of usage that the dado set would see, I didn’t want to spend 200 on the Freud SD508 set which is what I had in mind in the first place.I also skipped over the Oshlun SDS-0842 set due to noticeable bat ears claims and reviews. So today I had a chance to put this set to test after making a zero clearance insert for this set. Well, I’ll make it short. Clean bottom and no bat ear...

Porter-Cable Razor - 10" TS Blade

Porter-Cable Razor - 10" TS Blade

660 days ago by Jeff | 13 comments »

NOTE: the model number for the TS blade is 100VT50 Just as stated in the review for the circular saw blade, this is a great blade. I went to my local supplier for a thin-kerf Woodworker II but they were out. The guy I usually talk to told me I should give it a try. He makes picture frames for his father (an artist) on the side and swears by the miters you can get with it. He gave me a personal guarantee that if I didn’t like it after 30 days. He would take it back. No questions asked...

Another Screaming Bargain of a Saw Blade

Another Screaming Bargain of a Saw Blade

21 days ago by knotscott | 12 comments »

This review is as much a deal alert as it is a testimonial. This deal has been on Ebay for several weeks now from Cripe Distribution, and I’m amazed people haven’t scarfed these up like free champagne. If you’re not familiar with it, the Delta 35-7657 was originally the DeWalt DW7657 40T ATB general purpose blade….the same blade that Wood Mag rated favorably against the Forrest WWII a few years back when it was considered a good bargain at $50. It appears to be the sa...

CMT 10" 40T Full Kerf Blade - No Joy

CMT 10" 40T Full Kerf Blade - No Joy

253 days ago by knotscott | 12 comments »

I really wanted to like this blade…the attention grabbing orange color is so cool, plus it gives a constant warning to keep hands away. This was to be my new daily user for my new Shop Fox cabinet saw, but ultimately I’m disappointed as it underperformed expectations. There are pronounced swirl marks on the edges of every cut that make glue-ups straight from the saw marginally acceptable. The marks are large enough that you can feel them fairly easily. The quality of the cut loo...
